Context: Child dental Neglect is a terrible tragedy with a high prevalence. Dealing with this issue is important regarding psychological and physical health policies. The current review was conducted to provide health professionals insight into the different aspects of child dental Neglect as reported in previous literature.Evidence Acquisition: Our review was prepared through an electronic search using Pub Med, Science Direct, Medline, Google, Cochran Library, Google Scholar and EMBASE databases. Relevant papers published since 2000 until now in English, discussing child dental Neglect were retrieved. Both original and review papers were included. Eligible articles were fully read by the author. A data form was used to record useful findings.Results: Distinguishing the direct and indirect signs of dental Neglect is the first step for improvement of this matter. The dental team are the main professionals who can improve parental knowledge about the consequences of child dental Neglect. Victims suffer from short and long-term adverse outcomes. Collaborative attempts need to be made by different health professionals to deal with this problem.Conclusions: Child dental Neglect has many long-term impacts. The main professionals who are responsible for identification, intervention and treatment of child dental Neglect are dental practitioners. However, other professionals cannot ignore this task. Finally, child dental Neglect, despite its derivative outcomes, may be a presentation of a broader maltreatment.

Introduction: Neglect refers to the failure to meet the needs and well-being of elderly individuals. This can include inadequate care by responsible caregivers or a lack of essential necessities such as food, water, shelter, personal hygiene, medication, comfort, and safety. Despite the prevalence of Neglect, no studies have specifically investigated its occurrence and related factors among elderly residents in nursing homes in Iran. In this study, we aimed to address this gap by examining Neglect among older adults covered by state welfare centers in Ardabil city (Iran) in 2020. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional analytical study involving 130 older people in Ardabil, located in northwestern Iran. Our data collection tool consisted of a two-part questionnaire: one section focused on demographic information and the Elder Neglect Checklist. Participants were selected through a census from older adults residing in nursing homes. Data analysis was performed using SPSS software (version 22). Results: Among the 130 participants, 56 (43. 08%) were male, and 74 (56. 92%) were female. The overall prevalence of Neglect was 39. 2%. Dental problems were the most common type of Neglect (36. 2%), followed by Neglect related to providing a healthy environment (24. 6%). Additionally, our findings revealed significant associations between Neglect and marital status (p = 0. 001), previous occupation (p = 0. 002), and a history of illness (p = 0. 046). Conclusion: The study highlights a concerning rate of Neglect among elderly individuals, posing serious risks to their health and security. To address this issue, health and welfare officials, along with nursing homes, should implement necessary measures to improve the well-being of older adults and align with international standards. Background: Millions of children and families suffer from child abuse worldwide. Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the related variables for different types of child abuse and their perpetrators. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study that was conducted on high school students in Hamadan, Iran in 2016. Samples were selected by multiple cluster sampling method in which 571 students were enrolled in the study. A standard, valid and reliable selfreported questionnaire was used for recording child abuse and another part for demographic variables and perpetrators of child abuse (including: parents or other relatives, teachers, friends or classmates, strangers). After data collection, SPSS V. 21 software was used for data analysis. All P values less than 0. 05 were considered as significant. Results: The most common types of Neglect were students’ discomfort and lack of welfare at home (51. 0%), attention ignorance to students’ demands (46. 6%), and parent’ s excessive expectations (39. 2%). In physical abuse domain, corporal punishment conducing abrasion and burns scare (51. 8%) was in top of the list and the most common forms of psychological abuse were parent’ s strict behaviors (25. 7%), insulting and disrespecting the students (25. 4%) and humiliation of them (24. 9%). Psychological and physical abuse in girls and private schools were significantly higher than others (P < 0. 001). There was significant relationship between psychological abuse and smoking or substance experience in adolescents (P < 0. 001). Addicted and low educated parents were reported as perpetrators for all kinds of abuse. Conclusions: Understanding related variables and perpetrators of child abuse could raise the society perspectives about the importance of the subject and help decision makers for intervention programming aimed at reducing child abuse.
