Abstract:

Introduction: The immune response to laser TATTOO removal poses a significant challenge in its management, primarily due to its unpredictable nature, which can range from mild hypersensitivity reactions to severe anaphylaxis. Such responses can potentially hinder the effectiveness of laser TATTOO removal procedures. Therefore, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the immune response to TATTOO removal using laser techniques is of utmost importance to develop more efficient management strategies. This study aims to address this need by analyzing eight carefully selected articles obtained through a thorough literature review. Methods: To explore the immune response associated with laser techniques in TATTOO removal, we employed a rigorous research methodology. A thorough literature review was conducted using reputable search engines such as Google Scholar, SagePub, and PubMed to collect relevant articles. Initially, 788 potential articles were identified through this process. Following meticulous scrutiny, only eight articles that met stringent inclusion criteria were selected for our study. This meticulous selection process ensures that the information presented here is derived from high quality and pertinent research. Results: Based on the analysis of the eight selected articles, our findings illuminate the various immune responses that emerge following TATTOO removal using laser techniques. These responses include hypersensitivity reactions, allergic manifestations, and, in certain instances, anaphylaxis. Hypersensitivity reactions typically manifested as erythema, edema, and pruritus, while allergic responses were observed in the form of urticaria. In summary, our study highlights that the immune response to laser TATTOO removal primarily elicits hypersensitivity and, in some cases, anaphylaxis reactions. Conclusion: Our study underscores the significance of clinicians being vigilant regarding potential immune responses during laser TATTOO removal. It is crucial to closely monitor patients to promptly address any adverse reactions. Further research holds the potential to enhance our understanding, paving the way for improved management strategies that can enhance patient safety and treatment success.

Abstract:

TATTOOs are rooted in ancient social rite, which in the past were treated as rite of passage, but nowadays, most signify aesthetic concepts and acts of protest. These bodily writings testify to the representation of various functions of the body and an example of individual agency in the right to control and ownership of the body. The present research seeks to explore women’, s reasons and interpretation of TATTOO and its meaningful redefinition. In this research, the qualitative method and Grounded theory were used for implementation and data analysis. The participants of this research were 12 women from 19 to 36 years old in Yazd who were selected by purposeful sampling method. The collected data from semi-structured interviews were analyzed during open, axial, and selective coding process, which obtained 8 main categories. These categories include connote, self-expression, normative body, influence of neighbors (contact impact or juxtaposition effect), observational parts, symbolic signifiers, pleasure seeking and the prevention custom and tradition, which ultimately, the final category of iconoclastic Self-determination derived from integration of the main categories.

Abstract:

Background and objective: TATTOOing is a risk factor for occurrence of viral infections. In order to determine the prevalence of viral infections in women who had a history of TATTOOing, this study was conducted.Material and methods: In this cross-sectional study, in a time period of 2 years from July 2004 to September 2006, a total of 63 women who had a history of TATTOOing were selected. They were the women, who fitted the selection criteria. These criteria included; having no history of vaccination against hepatitis B and no history of hepatitis, icterus, blood transfusion, blood let, surgery, injection drug use and no history of hepatitis in the husbands in married women. After recording the demographic data, blood sample was drawn from each case. Then sera were evaluated with ELISA method for HBsAg and anti-HBc (Kit Dia sorin bio-medica) and antibody against HCV and HIV. Positive samples for HCV and HIV were also confinned by western blot. Results: Among 63 cases with history of TATTOOing, 5 cases (7.9 %) were positive for HBsAg. Anti-HBc was seen in 33.3% of subjects. Two cases were positive for anti-HCV. HCV infection was confirmed by western blot in only one case. HIV test was positive in two cases. In recent group, one case had a history of immigration for one year to a neighbour country but this test did not confinn by western blot because she did not assist us for more evaluation. Conclusion: Although, the sample size was small, but upon present results, TATTOOing could be a potent risk factor for occurrence of infection.
