Abstract:

This paper deals with standalone small power generation employing three self-excited induction generators under varying speeds feeding an isolated load. The proposed system utilizes three-level cascaded H-bridge inverter for the three generators. The control scheme has the capability of regulating the output voltage for balanced operation of a three-phase isolated load under variable speed. The proposed control can be implemented using DSPACE 1104, and the experimental results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed controller for an isolated generating system.

Abstract:

The space vector modulation (SVM) method was recently proposed and captured the interest of scientific research in the following years. In this paper, besides a brief review of the SVM methods proposed in the literature, a new SVM strategy based on the calculation of the minimum (Min) and maximum (Max) of three-phase voltages is proposed. The proposed SVM technique does not have to calculate the sector and angle, as is done in the traditional SVM technique. Therefore, it is the easiest technique to accomplish compared to the traditional SVM method and other existing methods. Compared with the traditional pulse width modulation (PWM), the advantage of using this new SVM strategy is that the scheme is simple and the total harmonic distortion (THD) value in the output of the two-level inverter is minimized. The technology has been simulated by MATLAB/Simulink, and then implemented on a real traditional two-level inverter using the dSPACE card. It is worth reporting the reduction obtained for THD using the proposed SVM technique (where THD is about 70%) compared to the traditional PWM technique (where THD is about 79.5%).

Abstract:

Digital Libraries (DLs) enable the development, organization, and administration of digital resources and collections while offering search, retrieval, and other information services through computer networks and electronic platforms. The efficient management of digital content in these libraries bolsters the knowledge economy and fosters an environment conducive to scientific advancements and innovations. Open source is increasingly viewed as a viable alternative to commercial digital library systems, largely due to dissatisfaction with their functionality. Additionally, budget constraints faced by libraries and the rising costs of software development and maintenance have further fueled this shift. Open-source digital library software offers free access alongside reliable functionality, making it an appealing option. Selecting high-quality software is a critical decision in designing a digital library, as it forms the foundation for delivering services. However, the wide range of available options can make the selection process challenging. The key issue lies in clearly defining the library's information requirements and its intended usage. To simplify the decision-making process, we evaluated six widely adopted open-source digital library systems including CDSware, DSpace, Fedora, Greenstone, Keystone, and EPrints. The assessment was based on a checklist comprising eight categories of key criteria. Among these, DSpace emerged as the top performer, followed by Fedora, Greenstone, CDSware, and EPrints. Conversely, Keystone was ranked as the lowest one due to inadequate support for several essential features outlined in the checklist. This study aims to assist decision-makers in selecting and implementing open-source digital library systems effectively in their institutions.

Abstract:

This paper presents a new technique based on model reference adaptive system (MRAS) observer for sensorless speed control of Two-Phase Induction Motor (TPIM). The MRAS identification is performed by means of comparison of stator fluxes obtained from both stator and rotor equations with stator voltage and current measurements. Simulation and experimental results for a 1.1 kW TPIM set-up are presented and analysed using a dSpace system with a DS1104 controller board based on digital signal processor (DSP) TMS320F240. Simulation and experimental results at nominal, low and zero speeds confirm the effectiveness of the proposed sensorless speed controlled TPIM drive.

Abstract:

In this paper, we present a modeling and implementation of new control schemes for an isolated photovoltaic (PV) using a fuzzy logic controller (FLC). The PV system is connected to a load through a DC-DC boost converter. The FLC controller provides the appropriate duty cycle (D) to the DC-DC converter for the PV system to generate maximum power. Using FLC controller block in MATLABTM/Simulink environment simplifies its implementation. However, all the parameters of the FLC blocks are not accessible and can not be modified without redesigning it each time, causing the loss of considerable time to control our system. To avoid these drawbacks and to simplify both the access and the plot of all blocks, a modelisation of FLC membership’ s functions has become a necessity. The simulation and experimental tests on a PV system show that the FLC provides a good tracking of the maximum power point (MPPT). Finally, we have evaluated the operation of the FLC on a real system consisting of a photovoltaic panel (BP580) model and have implemented the control strategy on a digital signal processor dSPACE DS1104.

Abstract:

By combining the field-weakening control principle of a new axial fluxswitching permanent-magnet motor (AFFSSPM) with the space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) and maximum torque per voltage (MTPV) control principle, a novel field-weakening control strategy for AFFSSPM is proposed in this paper. In the first stage of the field-weakening, the difference between the reference voltage updated by the current regulator and the saturated voltage output with SVPWM is used for field-weakening control, which modifies the direct axis of stator current. This method makes full use of the DC bus voltage, and can naturally smooth transition. In the second stage of the field weakening, the principle of MTPV control is used for field-weakening control, and then, being linearized. Compared with the traditional method, this method solves the problem of depth weakening of AFFSSPM. Between the two stages, the turning speed is used for the switch condition to achieve a smooth transition. The effectiveness and correctness of the proposed field-weakening control method and calculation method were verified with simulation results. Moreover, the dSPACE semi-physical simulation experimental platform for the hardware design and software design is used, and the semi-physical simulation experiment is carried out. The results show the accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed scheme.
