Background. Dental esthetic has become a popular topic among all disciplines in dentistry. There is a notable relationship between a person’ s attractiveness and amount of gingival show. Excessive gingival display and discrepant gingival margins has a negative impact on a pleasant smile and also on one’ s self-confidence. esthetic crown lengthening is used to alter the gingival labial profile. This procedure is indicated to reduce gingival exposure or asymmetry between contralateral teeth. It is important to consider parameters of ideal gingival labial positions. esthetic analysis that is included, facial, dental and dentogingival, should be done before beginning of treatment. The aim of this study is to review the related studies and gather information on esthetic parameters of ideal gingival labial positions and classification of crown-lengthening procedures. Methods. This study is based on articles found in PubMed database, published in 2014 and later. The keywords for this research were esthetic crown lengthening, gummy smile, gingivectomy, and periodontal surgery. Results. In order to perform a successful treatment, having the knowledge on classification and treatment sequence of crown-lengthening procedures with their indication and contraindications, is critical. esthetic crown lengthening classification: I. Gingival reduction only without osseous resection II. Gingival reduction with osseous resection Both of these techniques can be performed by gingivectomy or apically positioned flap. This decision is made on the basis of amount of keratinized gingiva. Gingival reduction only is rarely used because bone reduction is usually needed to achieve ideal treatment. Conclusions. Dentists should be aware patients of benefits of cosmetic dental rehabilitation. The evaluation of each case is the most important step to achieve proper treatment plan and choose correct technique for crown Lengthening. Background and Aim: The proportion of smile is a useful tool for creating geometric smiles which are a critical aspect in esthetic dentistry. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of lip line position on acceptable Recurring esthetic Dental (RED) proportion among lay people. Materials and Methods: A photograph of pose smile of a young female was taken. The position of the lip was changed by Adobe Photoshop CS6 software within three positions (low, medium, and high). Then, we created three RED proportions (54%, 62%, and 70%) for each lip line position. The photographs were ranked from most to least attractive (one to nine) by 40 lay people (20 females and 20 males) with a mean age of 19. 4 years. Data were collected and analyzed using Friedman test. Pairwise comparisons were made using Bonferroni correction. The impact of gender on the ratings was evaluated using repeated measures analysis of variance (ANOVA). Results: In the medium lip line group, all three proportions had approximately the same preference rates. The 54% proportion was the least attractive one in the high lip line group (mean=6. 819), and the 70% proportion was the least attractive one in the low lip line group (mean=6. 881). Conclusion: The acceptable RED proportion cannot be evaluated without consideration of other factors such as lip line position. esthetics is the result of a harmonious balance between different elements.

Background. In the early years of modern implantology, the chief concern was tissue health and implant survival. Over the last decade, there has been an increasing appreciation that esthetics is just as important to the success of the final restoration as health. The World Health Organization has defined health as a state of ‘ ‘ complete physical, mental, and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease. ” Patients increasingly demand restorations that are as esthetic as they are functional. Consequently, many recent studies have concentrated on treatment outcomes of implant Therapy performed in the esthetic zone. In a review of the recent literature “ Belser and colleagues “ reported that, dental implants in the anterior maxilla have an overall survival and success rate similar to those reported for other segments of the jaw. In an 11-year retrospective study, “ Eckert “ and “ Wollen” evaluated 1170 implants placed in partially edentulous patients and found no differences in survival rates of the implants with regard to their anatomical location. However, they also reported an esthetic failure rate of about 9% for implant placement in this area. SO, Placement of a dental implant in the esthetic zone is a technique sensitive. A subtle mistake in the positioning of the implant or the mishandling of soft or hard tissue can lead to esthetic failure and patient dissatisfaction. Methods. Correct positioning of the implant in this zone is an important topic that periodontists face it and can make a significant contribution to applicant patients.

Objectives: The aim of this project was to assess the personality traits of candidates for esthetic surgery. Method: This was a cross-sectional descriptive study of 100 candidates for esthetic surgery (82 females, 18 males) at a clinic. The subjects ranging from 16 to 45 years old with the mean age of 23.8 were evaluated by MMPI-PD before the surgery stage (taking photographs and executing the necessary laboratory work). Data were analyzed via descriptive statistics. Findings: The prevalence of various personality patterns included narcissistic 19%, histrionic 11%, obsessive- compulsive 10%, avoidance 9%, schizoid 6%, borderline 4%, negativistic 3%, dependent 1%, antisocial 1%, and paranoid 1%. Thirty five percent did not indicate any detectible personality traits. Results: Most of the esthetic surgery patients show narcissistic personality traits. This result points out the impact of psychological factors on seeking esthetic surgeries.

Background: Nowadays, there is a great interest in using dental lasers as a new technology in different fields of dentistry representing an adjunct or alternative to conventional treatments in order to improve treatment outcomes or patients’ convenience. On the other hand, there is a great attitude towards esthetic and cosmetic treatments from patient’s side and beautification of smile is becoming an everyday requirement in dental practice1. This presentation is trying to show how different dental laser wavelengths could be used safely in esthetic dentistry and how it could be possible to save time and money in dental clinics by using this new modern technology.Methods: A total of 10 clinical cases with esthetic demands treated with dental lasers were included, the data on age, gender, laser wavelength, laser irradiation settings, healing time, patient satisfaction, and post-operative pain were all recorded.Results: From a clinical point of view, the application of dental lasers for esthetic treatments such as bleaching, gingival depigmentation, and esthetic gingivectomy had very good results regarding patient comfort, postoperative healing time, post-operative complications, and tooth hypersensitization. In one case bleached with Er: YAG laser, the patient complained of dull pain in the right lateral incisor for 24 hours after treatment.Conclusion: Dental Lasers as a new modern technology can be used safely in different esthetic procedures. However, it should be kept in mind that selection of proper wavelength and correct settings are key factors for achieving desirable results.
