Abstract:

Purpose: When some information is missed or unintentional mistakes are happened in a published paper, the authors or the editors would write an erratum to correct and make the information reliable. The current research investigates corrections to the papers published in library & in information science (LIS) journals during 2006-2015. Methodology: The current study was an applied research conducted through a descriptive and correlational survey method using scientometric indicators. The sample of the study comprised of 212 erratums published in 47 Web of Science-indexed LIS journals. Results: Findings of the study revealed that during the time span of this research, 4. 51 corrections were published in LIS journals on average. Studied journals were found to have the correction rate of %0. 69. The mean time from publication of the article to the corresponding erratum was 8. 7 months. The results also showed that the highest share of errors in LIS journals were occurred in authors’ information (%27. 03), followed by references (%14. 16), tables (%12. 45), figures (%6. 87) and introduction (%6. 44), respectively. Moreover, the results of running a series of Spearman’ s Rank Correlation tests revealed no statistically significant relationship between the journals’ impact factors and their correction rates. Conclusion: Correcting the unintentional mistakes in scholarly articles is an ethical responsibility of researchers. Academic journals should be careful to the process of peer-review and establish clear correction policies.

Abstract:

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of observational learning on the status of reading high school students based on Bandura's cognitive-social theory. Methodology: This applied research was carried out using a survey method. The statistical population of this study consisted of all high school students in Chenaran city. The research sample was selected using cluster sampling method and 260 questionnaires were returned. A researcher-made questionnaire was used to collect the research data and its reliability was confirmed by Cronbach's alpha test (0. 876). Results: More than 60% of students believed that, in the community, people who read, do not have the appropriate social respect and position. Also, most students believed that success and wealth could not be achieved with reading. Leisure reading had a very low status in their leisure time. The results showed that 83. 5% of respondents read no book during the day at all. Also, Students prefer electronic resources, especially social networks, to print ones. The results also showed that students were less likely to take educated and readers as their model and most of them considered athletes and artists instead. Other findings of this study showed that observing the reading behavior of others had a significant effect on the increasing of students’ desire for reading. Conclusion: As people take others as a model for their many behaviors, the reading behavior of individuals can also be affected by observing the others’ behavior, and this can affect the amount and desire for reading.

Abstract:

Purpose: The aim of this study was to analyze and visualize co-authorship network of research institutions in the field of Iranian digital libraries (DLs). Methodology: This scientometric research was done using social network analysis at the micro and macro-level metrics. Study population consisted of 554 research items such as books, national and international journal papers, conference papers, and MA and PhD theses in Iran up to 2013. Collected data were analyzed using the Excel, SPSS, NodeXL, UCINet and VOSviewer softwares. Also tools such as “ Open heat map” and “ Google trends” were utilized for map design and indentifying DLs study trends. Results: Findings showed that the highest positive growth was related to the scientific productions and researches with intra-institutional collaboration and in return the lowest was related to international collaboration. The research institutions of Tehran province had the major share in scientific productions and co-authorships. Results revealed that institutions like Islamic Azad University (IAU), Science and Research Branch of Tehran; Tehran University; IAU, Hamadan Branch; Alzahra University; and IAU, North-Tehran Branch played the most effective and key roles in the DLs collaboration network in Iran based on productivity, centrality, and collaboration measures. Also, macro-level SNA metrics for this study showed lower cohesion of the co-authorship networks, although it seemed to exhibit “ scale-free” and “ small world” network properties. Conclusion: Generally, it can be concluded that the researchers' willingness to form clusters and research communities is in increasing mood. Thus poor communication among groups is one of the obstacles in scientific development, more learning and innovation in the DLs domain in Iran.

Abstract:

Purpose: The purpose of the present study was to find out the most valuable Latin databases and factors affecting them from the view point of graduate students of Razi University with emphasis on databases of: ScienceDirect, Springer, Ebsco, ISI, Emerald, and IEEE. Methodology: The present study was carried out using a survey method. The statistical population consisted of all 4145 graduate students at Razi University during 2015-2016. A sample of 523 students were selected using the stratified random sampling method. The data collection tool was a researcher-made questionnaire. Descriptive statistics and inferential statistics at the logistic regression level were used to analyze the data. Results: Latin databases such as ScienceDirect, ISI and Springer respectively with frequency percentage of 69 (361 choices), 38. 8 (202 choices) and 24. 7 (129 choices) were selected as the most valuable databases from the students’ point of view. Among the studied variables, education level, kind of faculty and income had an effect on students’ point of view on Latin databases practicality. Conclusions: Due to the high costs of access to databases for universities and higher education institutions, it is essential that valuable databases to be prepared and considered.

Abstract:

Purpose: This research aimed to study the impact of e-service quality on the online book purchase intention with the mediating role of trust and corporate image in viewpoint of customers. Methodology: This was an applied study in terms of purpose and a descriptive-analytic and correlation one in terms of data collection, . The statistical population of the study consisted all students of industrial universities in Tehran (Sharif, Amirkabir and Elm-o Sanaat) who have had at least one online book shopping experience. A sample of 120 students was selected using convenient sampling method. In order to measure the variables of quality of e-services, corporate image, trust and purchase intention, the standard questionnaires of Kuster (2016), Yoo and Chang (2005), Guenzi (2008) & Diallo (2012) were used respectively. Reliability and validity of the research instrument were evaluated and confirmed by calculating Cronbach's Alpha, combined reliability and explained mean variance. A conceptual model of research was performed using partial least squares method via Smart PLS software. Results: The findings of the research showed that the quality of e-services had a positive effect on the trust, corporate image and the purchase intention of customers through online shopping websites. Also, trust and corporate image directly and positively influenced the purchase intention. Conclusion: The quality of electronic services provided on the websites of online bookstores has a great impact on the tendency of people to purchase the book online.
