Abstract: 

This paper introduces a mixed integer programming model to find the optimum development plan for port Anzali. The model minimizes total system costs taking into account both port infrastructure costs and shipping costs. Due to the multipurpose function of the port, the model consists of 1020 decision variables and 2490 constraints. Results of the model determine the optimum number of berths that should be constructed in each period and for each type of cargo. In addition to, the results of sensitivity analysis on port operation quantity provide useful information for managers to choose the best scenario for port planning with the lowest investment risks. Despite all limitations-due to data availability-the model offers a straightforward decision tools to port planners aspiring to achieve optimum port planning steps.

Abstract: 

This essay tries to create a particular framework for ethical code of maritime profession using ethical theories. So; first, a summary of ethical philosophers' ethical code toward intellectual basis of ethical "good and bad" and "right ana wrong" is presented and then a description of professional ethical code, its necessity, benefits, and effects on organizations is assessed. Next, areas which are related to maritime activities and general principles of maritime profession ethics are determined and defined. Finally, some examples of maritime profession ethics in the area of "cargo and passenger", cargo owners", "ship owners", shipping companies", "ports", "ships", "national & international rules and regulations", "categorization institutes", "workplace and co-workers", "environment", and "described insurance companies" are presented in order to use different environmental conditions and situations as a model for regulating ethical code in maritime profession.

Abstract: 

This article presents a theoretical extension of a semi-empirical method for the determination of squat of ships in shallow water, based on a one dimensional theory in which the solid bottom is replaced by a higher density fluid layer. It can be shown that for evaluating the effect of the mud layer, a distinction has to be made between three ranges of the ship's speed, separated by two critical values. The first critical value is approximately equal to the maximum velocity of propagation of internal waves at the interface, while the second critical value depends on the blockage factor and on the over fluid density.Numerical results of theoretical calculations are compared with experimental data obtained in tests with self propelled ship models in restricted waters above a solid bottom and above a simulated mud layer.

Abstract: 

Ports, in general, play an important role in linking domestic trade to international economy, due to their effective and vital operation in logistics and transportation chain. This has been regarded by economic policy makers throughout the states and they always try to increase their market share and expand the development effects of this operation to regional and national economy through port competitiveness by presenting a group of qualified and unified services as well as through establishing industries and activities that can lead to an increase in port cargo and vessel traffic.In line with this, the formation of maritime clusters in recent years has been applied as one of the most effective ways in increasing port competition potentials and has lead to useful results in some advanced ports and among economic policy makers and port planners.Therefore, considering the above facts and the importance of maritime clusters in increasing port competitiveness in our country, in this article we tried to explain and define the clusters and their scope theoretically. Then we provided an explanation over Dubai Maritime Cluster in brief, and in the end through recognizing Chabahar Port potentials and their surrounding scope, the feasibility of Chabahar Port maritime Cluster is evaluated and the policy strategies is represented.
