Abstract:

Therapeutic communication is one of the most important determinants of treatment success. The aim of this study is to evaluate the perception of Iranian couples to marital privacy in therapeutic communi-cation with a psychotherapist. The present study was a qualitative research using latent thematic analysis method. This research performed with face to face semi-structural interviews and targeted sampling method. 30 married persons (15 women and 15 men) living in Tehran who had been married for at least three years, discussed their viewpoints about requirements of the protection of marital privacy in therapeutic communication with psychotherapist. The six phase strategy of Brown and Clark (2006) was used to extract themes. After analyzing the results, five main themes were extracted. Each has multiple sub-themes. The main themes are: confidentiality of psychotherapist, expertise, moralization, gender homogeneity of therapist and patient, and marital privacy in therapeutic communication: do's and don'ts. The results of this study highlight the public interest about the role of psychologists in reducing psychological distress and marital problems in the Iranian community, express the importance of culture-bound elements in the development of an effective therapeutic communication and the necessity of protecting the privacy of the marital psychotherapy as well.

Abstract:

The aim of the present research is to study the effectiveness of Kayser’ s disaffection model on the reduction of marital disaffection in couples. The research method is quasi-experimental with pretest, posttest and follow-up control group design. The population consisted of couples that had visited counseling center of the University of Tehran in the years 2016-2017 and were selected as couples with marital disaffection according to interview and questionnaire. Sample included 16 purposefully selected couples that were assigned to treatment and control groups randomly. The treatment group received marital consultation based on Kayser’ s disaffection model in eleven 2-hour long sessions. The control group was in the waiting list. Data was collected using Kayser’ s marital disaffection questionnaire. For data analy-sis, repeated measures two-factor analysis of variance was used. Findings indicated that there was significant difference in the level of marital disaffection between couples who had received intervention and couples in the control group. The results of this research demonstrate that marital consultation based on Kayser’ s disaffection model can effectively reduce marital disaffection. Therefore, this marital consultation method can be used effectively by experts in the field of family studies for treatment of marital disaffection.

Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between family function and accountability and satisfaction of basic psychological needs of male high school students. In this descriptive study, the correlation between the statistical population of male high school students in district 1 of Tehran was 362 based on the Cochran formula. A random cluster sampling method was used. For this purpose, all male high school boys in the first district of Tehran were selected from 5 schools and two classes were randomly selected from each school. Then, students from these classes were randomly assigned to students Sample titles were selected (meaningless sentence). Epstein, Baldwin, and Bishop (1983) Festal Questionnaire (FAD) based on Mc-Master's model, Nemati's Responsiveness (2008) and Satisfaction with Desi and Ryan's Psychological Needs (2000) were used. The results showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between family function and its six dimensions (problem solving, communication, roles and responsibilities, behavior blending, behavior control, emotional responsiveness) with responsibility and satisfaction of the students' basic psychological needs.

Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between mothers’ cognitive emotion regulation style and their reactions to children’ s negative emotions. To do so, 400 mothers that had children between the ages of 3 to 6 years were selected via multi-stage sampling and assessed by Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (CERQ), Coping with Children's Negative Emotions Scale (CCNES) and Gene-ral Health Questionair (GHQ). Results indicated that mothers’ maladaptive cogni-tive emotion regulation have a positive relationship with their non-supportive reactions to children’ s negative emotions and mothers’ adaptive cognitive emotion regulation have positive relation with their supportive reactions to children’ s negative emotions. The results of regression analysis showed that maladaptive styles of cognitive emotion regulation of mothers predict 9 percent of fluctuations in their non-supportive reactions to children’ s negative emotions, also mothers’ adaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies predicted 8 percent of fluctuations in mothers’ supportive reactions to children’ s negative emotions. The results of this study indicate that mothers’ cognitive emotion regulation style can predict some part of their reactions to children negative emotion. This finding can be considered in interventions to improve parenting practices.

Abstract:

The Parental Authority over children is regarded as one of the most important non-financial rights resulting from marriage. Based on Iranian law, The authority of the Father is more than that of the Mother. The father's specific rights include his authority over marrying the minors, his authorization to verify the marriage of mature virgins and the imposition of his nationality on his children. However, the right of upbringing and meeting the children are not merely attributed to the father. In the case of child custody, the legislator has also balanced the parental rights. Conversely, in France, the former absolute paternal power was replaced by the parental authority through the Act 1971 by attributing to the mother an Independent authority along with the father. Thus, the present situation of Iran lies in the midst of the past and present legal orders of France. This paper seeks to study the limitations of the authority of both parents over children in Iran and to examine the similarities and differences with French law in order to present a suitable model for Iran.

Abstract:

Mothers of children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder face significant stre-ssors and challenges; however, little research has investigated ways to effectively address their helplessness and psychological problems. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveeness of acceptance and commitment therapy on reducing the psychological problems in mothers of children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. The present study was a sub-experimental [0]study with pre-test and post-test and a control group design. The research population included all the mothers of children with autism spectrum disorder referred to Psychiatry Institute of Tehran in 2016, among which 30 mothers were selected through purposive non-random sampling method based on a specialist diagnosis and a clinical interview Then participants were randomized into two groups, an experimental and a control group. Participants completed the following assessments in pre-and post-test stages: Acceptance and Action Questionnaire, Depression Anxiety Stress Scale, Positive Aspects of Caregiving, and Five Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire. Descriptive statistical methods and covariance analysis were used to analyze the data. The results of covariance analysis showed that in the post-test stage, group-based acceptance and commitment therapy was effective on reducing psychological problems in the experimental group (P<0/0005). As a result, group-based Acceptance and Commitment Therapy can be effective in improving mental health of mothers of autistic children.
