Abstract:

The present paper has notified that the evaluation of architecture knowledge for industrial complexes helps identifying its development challenges. Thinking about the components of architecture knowledge development caused the evaluation to be occured in three sections of theoretical knowledge (or theoretical productions), knowledge transition (or training programs), and practical knowledge. Since the nature of the mentioned triad was different, the evaluation method of each was chosen in relation to their substantial features. As a result, evaluation of theoretical areas, due to its written nature, is accompanied by content analysis method. In this section, scientific research-based articles (published in fifteen authentic architecture journals, until winter 2014), 2500 selected books, M. A. theses (conducted from 2001 to 2010 in University of Shahid Beheshti), and Ph. D. dissertations (completed in domestic universities until 2012) were studied to estimate the quantity of production knowledge in terms of the architecture of industrial complexes. It is noteworthy that this evaluation took place compared to six selected functions i.e. landscape, residential, religious, healthcare, educational, and administrative. In transitive knowledge section, the mentioned evaluation was dedicated to the analysis of programs’ contents, orientations, fields of study, and courses, presented in three levels of BA, M. A., and Ph.D. Furthermore, in order to know about the status of practical knowledge, the orientation of architecture competitions (including periodical competitions and those, taken part from 2007 to 2009) were evaluated. Also selected samples of the existing industrial units (i.e.63 industrial units in Caspian Industrial Park, Qazvin) were studied. Results showed that architecture knowledge of industrial complexes, compared to other functions, had the least theoretical production as well as transitive training (quantitative challenge). Despite such circumstances, in the practical area it enjoyed some quantitative growth and requires qualitative attention (qualitative challenge). What is more, the development of architecture knowledge in terms of industrial complexes lacks any coherent structure, chiefly growing in a local and discrete manner. Results showed that the mentioned challenges are dealt with by integrating the mentioned triad and adopting practice-to-theory strategies (as reverse engineering). The research has emphasized that developing architecture knowledge for industrial complexes can be done by programming as a matrix of supplementary and evolutionary components, comprising the triple areas.

Abstract:

In recent years, there have been an increasing number of studies on the effect of natural and artificial environments on humans. There is much evidence that being in natural environments, or just looking at nature, promotes recovery from stress. In the residential context, it has also been suggested that views of nature from windows enhances residents’ sense of well-being. Viewing a 10- minute video dominated by natural elements (trees, vegetation, or water) after the participants were stressed by a video of industrial accidents facilitated recovery from stress, as indicated by lowered blood pressure, lowered muscle tension, and skin conductance. Young children spend most of their time at home. Although some spend a lot of their time at outside facilities such as daycare center, kindergarten, or school, most children still recognize home as their permanent space. They become attached to their home and feel safe and secure. When they are at home. They attach meanings to their home and that becomes part of their culture. Children’s experiences and images of early childhood are "the most deeply scored and enduring". Children develop interests at this environment, which helps them resolve inner conflicts, make sense of their existence, and develop self-regulation and self-concept. Cohen states that "the passionate interests of young children can be thought of as the seeds of adult creativity. Creativity has been the subject of interest and study for the past 60 years. Because of being in growth ages, activation, promoting and directing creativity in children is important. Still, creativity is mysterious! It is hard to do systematic analysis. This makes it hard to understand and explain why and how creativity happens and what elements it is related to. Furthermore, the variety of definitions of creativity among researchers makes it even more complicated to understand and study because there is no definitive meaning accepted by all. People define creativity as the ability to produce novel and original work within specific framework and limitations. Children are creative by nature. Social psychologists argue that creative people begin their creative production early in life. The focus of research on the creativity has been from psychology features to the impact of the physical environment on these features. One of the ways to promote creativity, using the impact of natural or artificial environment to create and enhance the creativity factors in children. Literature suggests that Space and environment in creativity and its quality of growth have an important role. This spaces may be natural spaces or artificial space and in other words the architecture environment. But the construction of architecture to influence the cultivation of creativity is very pale. The real question is, which features in residential space impact on the promotion of creative task. The present study seeks to achieve residential space design principles that will enhance children’s creativity. This research is developmental and research method is descriptive that is done in five main step. Then, using the survey method one of descriptive research methods, Second stage and third stage of the research community are psychology experts and architecture professionals. Fourth stage research community are 3-7 years-old children in Tehran from district 4. After selecting the sample and data collection by interview, questionnaire, using inferential statistics, hypothesis tests are proposed. To evaluate the hypothesis of descriptive statistics and statistical indicators set by the frequency and inferential non-parametric Spearman test, multiple linear regression test and Friedman nonparametric test was used. According to the findings, physical environment in residential spaces affects the development of children’s creativity and in residential space, using natural elements, creating a safe space, complex space and flexible space, through a positive impact on children’s motivation for physical activity (playing), mental relaxation, initiative and Child’s curiosity children’s creativity can be promoted. The present study seeks to achieve the design principles of residential space that will enhance children’s creativity.

Abstract:

Unsteady, hastily and inharmonic development of urban framework is one of the main factors in emerging urban issues especially social class status, bioenvironmental, framework decrease. In many years, most of development cases are not planed based on a system due to a wrong picture of development concept and method. At last, it is done by the simplest method in the original lands which are around the cities, it has followed some irrecoverable issues, for example, we did not care about the abandoned and unused areas in the cities, and the cities observe the horizontal and disjoined growth and it resulted in their instability. To solve these problems and reduce the incoming pressure on the cities peripheral lands and environment, a modern approach is introduced for internal development as the most stable development pattern for cities. Internal development is a policy which aims to achieve a balanced, harmonic and stable development in order to identify, plan for the optimum usage of existing development capabilities within the urban areas. We should mention that the optimum usage doesn’t mean the framework development of existing opportunities, but the approach follows social, cultural, bioenvironmental and economic aims. The internal development emphasizes on the effective exploitation of vacant and abandoned lands within cities in compared to the other policies of urban development, it targeted a wide variety of vacant and unused parts within the cities and with different scales. Among these, military plants and lands can be an opportunity for cities revival with a wide range in the cities as one of the most important internal development capabilities. The revival of these areas has been resulted in many urban economic and social investments returns due to their urban infrastructure, so it enjoys a significant importance in the internal development policy. The current study aims to achieve comprehensive framework. To achieve this goal, first we review the internal development literature and present theories and policy background in Iran and other parts in the world, also we reread the concept of military lands development and its approaches, its importance is specified in the urban development, then in the second step with documentation of two internal and external experience and investigation of implemented plans weaknesses and strengths, the field of theoretical knowledge upgrade provides in the arena of internal development with reliance on the knowledge to have more effective policies. The Study method is an analytic interpretive based on studies and evaluation of case study, it is tried to deal with investigation of that subject by internet and library documents help. The obtained results of study showed that the redevelopment of military lands which are within the cities is one of the most important opportunities of internal development. These lands where in the past time were formed around the cities, by passing the time they have been located in the cities with urban framework growth, they assigned wide areas to themselves, finally they can offer some unique opportunities for the cities stable development. Military lands redevelopment, in addition to the district quality in the project field, and affecting on the peripheral context can be as a drive in the urban recreation plans. So planning should be done foe redevelopment of these areas by evaluating the capability related to the needs, services-functional shortages of peripheral context and these areas dominance. Also the results show that redevelopment of these fields requires the management systematic with internal development policy growing. A structure which performs well with coordination and consistent with other components. Otherwise, the present structure is fading and meeting the goals is not possible. Many of these projects are important due to management barriers which have not been solved and custodian support of these lands to transfer their ownership in an imperfect way and the final goal has not been met. In other words, existing treasure protection, which is countries contemporary heritage, is considered important. Finally, based on the results emphasized that there is a significant relation between presence and government involvement, mayoralty, local organizations and private sector with military lands successful revival, it shows that the redevelopment of ineffective lands, in addition to economic benefits, influence on increasing life quality, social benefits and environmental benefits. Six main components include: harmonic management, citizenship involvement, effort for social liveliness effect on peripheral environment, bottom up planning, realization principle.

Abstract:

Architecture and urbanism of a community represent the identity of a community, and urban neighborhoods are area for emergence of this identity, so designing and creating neighborhoods with Islamic identity in towns can reflect culture, urbanization and thus the identity of that town and society. Therefore, with respect to rich Islamic culture in our country and the necessity of paying attention to it in neighborhood designing, this research is conducted to present Islamic components based on present situations to improve Islamic identity in new neighborhoods. The research method was descriptive-analytical in nature with practical aim. Islamic components were collected by using documentary and library sources from sayings of Imams, and were divided into 6 main groups. The obtained components were updated based on general principles of urbanism regulations, and then were studied in West Emamieh neighborhood of Mashhad city. Auto Cad and GIS software was used for studying and analyzing the Islamic components in the studied areas. The results showed that the majority of the presented components (except for mosque-based neighborhood designing) have been considered in designing this neighborhood. Since Islamic identity in neighborhoods of Islamic cities is linked to religious land use (mosque), designing new neighborhoods based on this land use must be given more attention.

Abstract:

In this study, part of the native Iranian architecture of the Sistan region in terms of climate issues, techniques used in the construction of buildings and difficult environmental (climatic) issues are studied. Today, in sustainable architecture, the greatest attention is paid to climatic, environmental and green architecture issues alongside matters related to traditional and old architecture on a local and global level. Advanced technologies in construction and use of new materials in architecture has, on the one hand, created the suitable conditions for realizing exotic ideas and projects for architects and designers. These challenges and the need for paying attention to valuable elements of local traditional architecture indicate the necessity of undertaking research on climatic conditions and sustainable architecture. This research deals with parts of traditional Iranian architecture in the Sistan region in terms of climate, the techniques used in construction and difficult environmental conditions (climate) based on modern theories of sustainable architecture. The research question deals with the factors, climatic conditions and characteristics of architectural structures of Sistan region (indigenous and ancient) which can be utilized in modern Iranian architecture and be of use in contemporary design issues of climate architecture. The research methodology was based on two parts: a descriptive approach and field studies in part one and a comparison of the theoretical and climatic components of sustainable architecture with the structural elements of local Sistan architecture forms part two. In traditional Iranian architecture, discussions always focus on valuable strategies and methods of providing adequate living conditions in buildings. Different and variable climatic and geographic conditions throughout this land have forced architects with their innovative principles to provide the best and most appropriate ways of buildings adapting to climatic conditions. Since past-times, the use of natural and inexhaustible forces such as the sun and wind has commonly been used in Iran to improve the bio-thermal conditions of living spaces. These forces results in buildings saving fuel consumption and more importantly enhancing the quality, comfort and hygiene of residential environments. The research results indicate that centuries-old use of Kharkhona, Dorche, Kolak, Surak were suitable climatic solutions that are defined as a component of indigenous architectural principles in this region to combat the harsh climate and facilitate good living conditions. With little change in the structure of contemporary architecture, these solutions can be used to achieve sustainable architecture.

Abstract:

Way finding is individual ability to achieve spatial destination in the new and complex settings, as easy and fast as doing this in familiar environments. Way finding play an important role, in public places such as shopping malls, airports, railway stations, schools, hospitals and etc, Although when direction losing is discussed in various places, frustration and fear feelings are expressed. Recognizing that in a set of different and complex functions, individuals’ location and how they reach their distiantions, are inevitable which is necessary cities and large-scale buildings planning process. With the application of structural elements which increases spatial legibility and image ability and provide clear and perceptible spatial information, infact provide conditions which individuals spend the minimum time and energy and stresslessly to reach the intended aim. The field of Way finding and Path finding process hasn’t been investigated in past cities of Iran, only in some sources referred to landmarks, they can contribute to recognizing direction. this survey investigates this issue for the first time and this process along with path finding is considered to emphasize on way finding concept as the spatial problem solving. From the seventies up to now, considering this feature capability and its improvement are fundamentally mentioned as the main research subjects in different sections such as urbanism, architecture, environmental psychology and so on. The purpose of this research is to find the elements and spatial properties to facilitate the way finding process in old cities in Iran and to find an answer to this question, "Could the components of spatial legibility considered in today’s urban design discussions, be found in the structures of Iran’s old cities? The current research and its fundamental and the related results can be practically analyzed. Therefore, they are performed at three stages: The first one is associated to document or library studies that includes analyzing the concepts of way finding and path finding, sorting the researcher’s findings in the field of urban design concerning physical elements of the structures of Iran’s old cities. The second one is a case study that, includes reviewing the structures of three old cities in Iran, namely Zavareh, Tabriz and Shiraz, At the third stage, the analysis of the mentioned findings and conclusion will be discussed. It is concluded that legibility, spatial continuity, spatial contrast and spatial sequences are basically considered the most important factors to facilitate the process of way finding and path finding in the old cities of Iran. According to the mentioned factors which are used in the design of cities and regions and even in contemporary public buildings, there are some advantages for users include: - Facilitating and quick access to spatial destinations.-Increasing the attraction of urban spaces and creating the variety in urban facades and configurations - Losing disappointment, hopelessness, anxiety sensation due to being lost and losing position and direction for people.-Increasing the security spatial sensation and people’s presentation in public settings with different skills and capabilities.
