Abstract:

The main objective in this research was application of Electrophoretic deposition (EPD) method for modification and coating of titanium electrodes with nano materials and their application for removal of Acid Red 33 (AR33) dye, by using electrocatalysis and photoelectrocatalysis processes. In this paper the titanium electrodes coated with multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs/Ti) and multiwall carbon nanotubes – titanium dioxide composite (MWCNTs-TiO2/Ti) were prepared by the electrophoretic deposition (EPD) method. The evaluation of efficiency of prepared MWCNTs/Ti anode for removal of AR33 indicated that high decolorization efficiency (90%) was achieved for dye concentration of 30 mg/L, using a current density of 5. 5 mA cm-2, NaCl 1g/L and pH=10 for 60 min. Also, photoelectrocatalysis (PEC) activity of MWCNTs-TiO2 composite electrode was investigated through the degradation of AR33 as a model pollutant. 98% of decolorization efficiency and 41. 66% of mineralization for AR33 dye were achieved after 60 min of photoelectrocatalytic treatment using the MWCNTs-TiO2/Ti composite electrode at a current density of 7. 5 mA cm− 2, dye concentration of 30 mg/L and pH=5. 2. Received: 08-07-2016 Accepted: 06-12-2016 Available online: 11-09-2017 In this study, the effects of three parameters including reaction time, H2O2 concentration, and catalyst loading on the decolorization of methyl orange by synthesized copper ferrite nanocatalyst have been studied. In order to optimize the decolorization efficiency, response surface methodology (RSM) based on Box– Behnken design (BBD) was employed. Optimum condition for decolorization of methyl orange solution with concentration of 50 mg/l was obtained at 109. 26 min, H2O2 concentration of 24. 42 mmol/l, and catalyst loading of 49. 88 mg/l. The results showed that at the optimum conditions, a decolorization of more than 95% can be obtained. The synthesized Fenton nanoparticles are efficient catalysts for the treatment of industrial wastewaters containing azo dyes such as methyl orange. J. Color Sci. Tech. 11(2017), 91-98© . Abstract:

In this research, CuO nano-particles composite with sawdust as a cellulose bed (termed as CuO/SD NC) were prepared via chemical precipitation and then were used for removal of Congo red dye as a typical anionic dye (termed as CR) from aqueous solutions. Surface characterisation of the nanomaterial adsorbents was carried out by X-ray Diffraction (XRD) and scaning electron microscopy (SEM) techniques. Adsorption studies were conducted by CuO/SD nanocomposite in a fixed-bed column system. In order to find out removal optimisation conditions in column adsorption experiments, the effects of several parameters, such as pH, initial dye concentration, flow rate, and bed depth on the sorption of Congo red dye were studied. When the feedstock pH reduction, the volume of breakthrough curves increased and Congo red dye natural pH value equal 5 was chosen as the optimal pH. By reducing the solution dye flow rate and increasing adsorbent bed height, due to increased contact time and adsorbent surface available, the breakthrough curves volume increased and higher absorption capacity occurs. Varios kinetic models such as Thomas, Adams-Bohart and BDST kinetic model were applied in order to obtain colum adsorption performance. Thomas model shows good agreement in the column design that indicates the process follows the Langmuir adsorption kinetics, adsorption process was one layer and the maximum absorption capacity of the absorbent was obtained 28. 4 mg/g. At the end in order to find out the possible frequent use of adsorbent in column system, desorption and regeneration investigation was also studied. J. Color Sci. Tech. 11(2017), 99-111© . Abstract:

The adhesion is defined as attraction between the ink and substrate. For good wetting characteristics and consequently achieve acceptable adhesion between the polymer surface and ink, the surface energy of polymeric substrates, is one of the critical parameters and Surface energy of the substrate should be higher than the surface tension of the ink. Despite the sound features of low density polyethylene polymers which make it suited for used in the many industries like packaging, low surface energy of this polymer caused problems with printing on this polymer. Thus, many methods are utilized to improve the printability of this polymer. The objective of this study is in investigating the printability of low density polyethylene after using two methods of treatment; plasma and corona behalf. Contact angle, adhesion tape tests, AFM, SEM was used to determine the quality of provision. Results indicated a better performance of plasma treatment in comparison with corona, both in terms of initial adhesion and durability of this adhesion. J. Color Sci. Tech. 11(2017), 113-120© . Abstract:

Pahlavi Period has a special feature in the history of art in Iran. Due to the influence of Western's art and culture during this period, paintings and art are greatly influenced. The influence of Western art was begining from long ago of the Safavid dynasty, which reached its peak in Qajar and Pahlavi period. This paper attempts to identify the materials used in Pahlavi easel paintings. For this purpose, the boards' portrait Hassan Esfandiari ", " portrait of Muhammad Ali Foroughi "and" Mahmoud Ehteshamosaltaneh portrait " from paintings collection of Jafar-e-Chehrehnegar, in the Museum of the Iranian Islamic Parliament will be used as a case study. Techniques for analyzing PLM, FT-IR, SEM-EDS, XRF, as well as historical studies, basic procedures the identification of pigments and fibers are used in the painting. According to the results of the analysis carried out, the artist used white lead, zinc white, calcite white, yellow ochre, iron oxide, red ochre, ultramaryn, , Indigo Blue, under the influence of artistic periods before Pahlavi in Iran. And used titanium white, green chrome, yellow zinc and lead chromate yellow and red, Prussian blue, under the impact of foreign artists and new materials have been imported. The fibers used for making canvas painting: canvas was diagnosed. J. Color Sci. Tech. 11(2017), 121-136© . Institute for Color Science and Technology.

Abstract:

An environmentally benign, effective, new and simple protocol for the synthesis of azo-Linked bis coumarinyl methanes by a nucleophilic addition reaction of synthesized aldehyde and two equivalents of 4-hydroxy coumarins in the presence of 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10-octahydropyrimido[1, 2-a]azepin-1-ium acetate ([DBU]OAc) as a ionic liquid under stirring in room temperature was reported. All reactions are performed in the absence of solvent in high to excellent yield during short reaction times. Further, the ionic liquid can be reused and recovered for several times without loss of activity. This work consistently has the other advantages such as mild reaction condition and simple work-up procedures. There are ten derivatives of azo-linked bis coumarinyl methanes were synthetized. All of synthesized compounds were characterized by IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. J. Color Sci. Tech. 11(2017), 137-143© . Institute for Color Science and Technology.

Abstract:

The aim of the present study was to isolate halophilic and halotolerant Actinomycetes with azo dye decolorization ability. To this purpose, different strains of halophilic and halotolerant Actinomycetes isolated from effluent of a textile industry and those received from microbial bank of IBRC were screened on the Remazol Black B for finding dye decolorizing ones. Two strains, M18 and M77, revealed the best decolorization results and effect of different factors including NaCl (0-15%), Temperature (25-40 ° C), and pH (5-11) in static condition on their decolorization ability were studied. The best decolorization results on Remazol by Black B by M18 and M77 were at 12. 5 and 2. 5-10%, pH values of 7-9, and temperatures of 35 and 40 ° C, respectively. According to the ability of strains to decolorize the mixed azo dyes, they can be good options for degrading azo dyes in textile effluents. J. Color Sci. Tech. 11(2017), 145-152© .
