Abstract: 

Introduction: Perception of conscience is related to the qualities and actions of the conscience and what one thinks of the origin of conscience. Among the health staff, perception of conscience is obviously different. Thus, the current study was carried out to evaluate the nurses’ experience of the perception of nursing conscience.Method: The study was a qualitative approach, performed with phenomenological method. In scheduled times the participants attended unstructured interviews. The interviews were recorded and then transcribed. Data analysis was performed according to Colaizzi's method. The accuracy of the data was verified by checking its creditability, confirmability, reliability, and transferability.Results: Nine nurses---, attended in-depth interviews. By continuous analysis of the data as well as analysis of the handwritings related to the interviews on the experience --- of nurses with respect to their perception of the conscience nature, four major categories of existence, promotion, establishment, and acts (roles) of conscience emerged in ten sub-categories.Conclusion: The lived experiences of nurses on the perception of conscience were as internal sense that guide and supervises human being. Meanwhile the conscience is constant but fluctuating. The nurses percept that they can improve the conscience by right symbolization.

Abstract: 

Introduction: Obesity can be considered as the new world syndrome and its prevalence is increasing in all age, gender, race and economic groups. Hence, nowadays, it is referred as silent epidemic. Determining the status of overweight, obesity and abdominal obesity among nursing students in Islamic Azad University of Lahijan in 2009.Method: This descriptive-analytic study was done on 370 girl students of nursing employed to study in Islamic Azad University of Lahijan. Sampling method was through all satisfied individuals who participated in research. Data collection tool was a researcher-made questionnaire consisting of questions on demographic data, obesity records, eating habits, physical activity and the standard measurement of anthropometric indices (weight, height, waist circumference (WC), hip circumference (HC)). In this study, the Body Mass Index (BMI) was considered for determining overweight and obesity, while waist circumference (WC) and waist hip ratio (WHR) was regarded for investigating abdominal obesity.Results: The findings of this study indicated that the majority of nursing university students were in a normal weight range (61.1%) with (78.6%) and (85.9%) of them being in normal WC and WHR ranges, respectively. In terms of eating habits most of the students were in an average condition (70.5%). Considering physical activity, (47%) had an average condition, (45.1%) were in a bad condition and only (7.8%) of them were in a good condition. No significant statistical relationship was observed between BMI, WC and WHR with demographic data of the samples, eating habits and physical activity (P<0.0001).Conclusion: Although, the majority of girl university students in this study were in good condition of overweight, obesity and abdominal obesity, small percentage of them did physical activity. So, regarding the undeniable role of physical activities in human physical and mental health promotion in all age groups, the youth lifestyle modification is essential academic centers can be an important health related.

Abstract: 

Introduction: University student in dormitory perceive multiple stressors during educational experience, that can lead to disruption in mental health status. The purpose of this study was to determine, mental health status of university students in dormitory.Method: This is a descriptive-analytic study, 162 university students from 7 dormitory of University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Science were selected by proportional sampling. The instruments for collection data were demographic data, General Health Questionnaire. Analysis was done by t-independent Mann Whitney U, Kruskal Wallis, Pearson correlation, Chi-squre, Kolmogrov-smirnov by using SPSS software and 95 percent coefficient.Results: Findings showed that 54.3 percent (88 person) of university students were suspect for mental disorders. The high mean was related to social function disorder and then sleep disorder and anxiety, physical symptoms and depression.There was negative significant relation between age, education term, dormitory living time and mental health status (P<0.05).Conclusion: According to our findings, university students in dormitory are at risk for mental disorder, because some factors. Therefore, it is necessary to try for removing factors that relate to this problem.

Abstract: 

Introduction: One of the main goals of bachelor's degree program in nursing produce graduates to meet the needs of the community and employment in various settings of health and medical care while after graduation in Iran recruitment of nurses in cancer nursing is difficult. It is important to understand why working in cancer areas is not popular. The aim of this study identifies Iranian undergraduate nursing students' attitude and motivation toward employment in cancer settings after graduation.Method: A cross sectional study 2010 was carried out in three nursing schools. The participants were 469 nursing student who were in third and fourth year of their nursing education. Data was collected using self-completed questionnaires that their validity was substantiated by the results of the research from the perspective of experts in nursing and the reliability was measured through Cronbach Alpha Coefficient, the alpha coefficient of which was equal to 81% and then was analyzed by SPSS and by means of descriptive and inferential statistical methods.Results: Statistically significant difference was detected between gender, academic year, and clinical experience with cancer patient, and passing theory credit of cancer before practice. The independent Test also showed significant differences between the two academic years (P<0.05). The fourth year students had higher grades in the parts of emotion, feeling, behavior, and total score of attitude and motivation questionnaires than the other. Students who had not passed the cancer theory credit had higher grades in parts of behavior, attitude and motivational factors which with use of the independent t -test a statistically significant difference was seen (P<0.05).Conclusion: The results of this study indicated that nursing students have negative attitude towards working in cancer wards. The highest rank among motivational factors was the unusable theory trainings and the lowest rank was the disproportionate cancer theoretical course content with the real needs in the cancer ward. Changing these attitudes presents a significant challenge. Curricula need to be reviewed, and revise the content.Nursing schools and nursing educators must reconsider their performance and hospital managers must improve environment and working conditions of cancer settings.

Abstract: 

Introduction: According to technology progress towards and growth in medical sciences on cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, nursing human-forces training and education in emergency department seem to be necessary. Therefore, the present study was conducted on of retraining program competency based planning for nurses practice on cardio-pulmonary resuscitation in emergency department.Method: This study is semi-experimental type, sampling non-random, carried out on case (15 nurse) and control (15 nurse) groups in training hospital dependent to Golestan University of Medical Sciences. Data gathered by using of nurse practice observational Questionnaire on cardio-pulmonary resuscitation. Re-training program competency based was planning and implemented based on re-training planning principles as well as competency-based training (CBT) basic steps on cardio-pulmonary resuscitation of case group. Data were gathered from two steps including the previous step and 4-month following experiment on case and control groups separately and analyzed in SPSS16 software using descriptive statistics (Frequency, mean, standard deviation) and inferential statistics (Mann-Whitney, Chi-square, Wilcoxon).Results: Chi-square statistical test showed that no significant differences were found in terms of demographic variables such as age, sex, job experience, … between two groups (P>0.05). Mann-Whitney test was revealed that nurses performance dimensions on cardio-pulmonary resuscitation was found to be different between two groups (P<0.05). Also, Mann-Whitney test, showed significant differences between total nurses performance scores on cardio-pulmonary resuscitation between two groups following 4-months duration (P<0.05).Conclusion: Findings these study to revealed, applying re-training program competency based is effective on the nurses practice on cardio-pulmonary resuscitation and advancement about 40 percent up to the nurses practice emergency department. So it is suggested that re-training program competency based to be applied as nursing human-forces training in emergency department.

Abstract: 

Introduction: Adolescents, as a large age group in the world, face many physical and psychological changes in their puberty period. If enough attention is not paid to such changes, may be girls won't knowledge and self concept to charge the case.Health education proper to their needs and through new educational methods and reliable sources is of great importance. This study mainly aims to examine the impact of puberty health education on self concept of adolescents.Method: In this experimental trial training study, through random sampling, 159 femail high school divided in to two groups of experimental (N=86) and control (N=73). Then with a systemic educational plan, all students and their mothers in experimental group were instructed. Data was gathered by demographic questionnaire and Cooper smith's self esteem scale. Questionnaires were completed by students in three phases (before and after training and three months after the end of educational program). Data were analyzed by parametric tests, independent T test and chi square.Results: There were no significant difference among total mean scores of self concept in pre intervention phase (P=0.416), but, there were significant difference in two groups in post intervention phase and three months after the intervention (P=0.002) and (P<0.001).Conclusion: Performing systemic educational programs during puberty has a crucial role in young girl's self concept increase.

Abstract: 

Introduction: Physicians and nurses have to effectively communicate together and believe that none of them can reach to the expected results without another's help. As a representative of an effective communication, collaboration is process through which physician and nurse discuss healthcare problems of the patients and each one presents his/her information based on mutual respect to complete a healthcare program. The main objective of this study is to define the attitudes of the physicians and nurses occupied in public hospitals of Tehran University of Medical Science about Collaboration.Method: This is a cross sectional comparative study in which the study population was selected among the physicians and nurses employed in hospitals of Tehran University of Medical sciences. The tool applied in this study consists of two parts. The first part involves demographic characteries of the research samples, whereas the second part includes Jefferson questionnaire to measure attitudes toward physician-nurse collaboration. The collected data were subjected to statistical analysis using SPSS v.14 software package. To obtain research objectives, after collecting required information, data were analyzed using descriptive statistical indexes a and T test, c2 test, and ANOVA were used.Results: In this study 160 sample participated for each group. The results of this study indicated a significant difference (P<0.001) between mean scores of the physicians (44.5±5.05) with that of nurses (50.8±3.84).Conclusion: Based on findings of this study, it was concluded that it is required to do some cultural practices about the cooperation between physicians and nurses. In addition, it seems that holding workshops to define the objectives and strategies for creation of collaboration toward physicians and nurses is of highest significance for medical and nursing students. Through elucidating the attitude of physician and nurse toward collaboration, this research can provide some strategies for creation of effective communication between physician and nurse through which both can be benefited.

Abstract: 

Introduction: Asthma is a chronic disease and common that despite advances in treatment has high mortality, currently estimated to be 300 million asthma patients worldwide, more important is increase of prevalence. In the important point in the treatment of asthma in addition control of symptoms is improve quality of life of patients. The impact of asthma and its complications on quality of life in the view of children and people involved with them is unknown yet. To presentation effect of asthma on the life of children with asthma we need assess the quality of life directly, so this study done with purpose of comparison quality of life of children with asthma in the viewpoints of them and their mothers in 2008.Method: In this descriptive-analytical study children with asthma hospitalized in pediatric and emergency wards of Beasat hospital of Sanandaj in 2008, in convince sampling elected and investigate the quality of life in the view of them (38) and their mothers (38). Demographic information and quality of life questionnaire (PedsqL) children and their mother viewpoint each has 28 question that investigate asthma related problem (11 question), treatment-related problem (11 question), problem related concerns (3question) and problem related to communication (3question), with five-point Likret scale (never, seldom, sometimes, often, always) from zero to four.Higher scores indicate more problem and lower. Quality of life data collected with structured interview. Information analyzed using statistical (t -test and Chi-square).Results: Results show mean score of quality of life in the viewpoint of children with asthma was 77.12±96.59 and in the viewpoint of their mothers was 73.21±43.81.Comparison mean quality of life score of children and their mothers using the t-test, a level of %5 indicates significant statically difference in total score (P=0.000) and in four part of asthma (P=0.003) and part of treatment of disease, concerns and communication (P=0.000). Chi-square test show statically difference between quality of life in the viewpoint children with location of life (P=0.04) and there we sent significant correlation with other demographic information, age, sex.Conclusion: Result showed that the viewpoint of children and their mothers about quality of life was different in total and in different dimension and mothers view was more undesirable. Therefore in attention to the important role of mother in children care and recommend nurses must consider view of mothers about quality of life and provide background to their participation in care planning to as much as possible promotion of children quality of life.
