Abstract:

The aim of this study was to test a conceptual model for the mediating role of perfectionism in the effects ofimplicit theories of intelligence on general self-efficacy in university students. A sample of three hundred and eighty-two (20. 40 ± 1. 84 years, range: 18-23) girl students was selected randomly through multi-stage cluster sampling from University of Mazandaran, and filled the Implicit Theories of Intelligence Scale (ITIS; Abd-El-Fattah & Yates, 2006), the Perfectionism Inventory (PI; Hill, et al., 2004), and the General Self-Efficacy Scale (Sherer, et al., 1982). Using Maximum-Likelihood estimation and bootstrapping procedure, the results from structural equation modeling showed that the direct effects of incrementalimplicitbelieves on organization, planfulness, and striving for excellence, and entity implicit believes on concern over mistakes and need for approval were positive and statistically significant. Also, organization, planfulness, and striving for excellence (components of conscientious perfectionism) mediated the effect of incremental implicit believes on general self-efficacy components. Concern over mistakes and need for approval (components of self-evaluative perfectionism) mediated the effect of entity implicit believes on general self-efficacy components (p< 0. 05).

Abstract:

The aim of this study was to compare the spiritual intelligence and self-control in offender individuals and non-offender individuals and assess the correlation between these two groups. The statistic population was all gang members in central Isfahan prison and ordinary people residing in Isfahan. 100 gang members and 100 usual non-offenders were selected as sample using simple random method. both groups matched according to age, marital status, gender and education. The Spiritual Intelligence Questionnaire (King, 2008) and Self-Control Questionnaire (Tangney, 2004) were applied to collect data. The results of analysis of variance indicated that there was a significant difference between spiritual intelligence and its components (critical existential thinking, personal meaning production, transcendental awareness, conscious state expansion) and between self-control and its components (controversial self-control, initial self-control) of these two groups (P≤ 0. 01), that is, offenders had less spiritual intelligence and self-control in relation to non-offenders. Therefore, significant differences were observed between these two groups(P≤ 0. 05).

Abstract:

The present study was conducted to investigate the effectiveness of teaching positive parenting on the parents' stress and child-mother relationships in mothers of children with enuresis. Therefore, in a semi-experimental design with pretest-posttest control group type, 30 mothers of 5-12 year-old children with enuresis referred to therapy centers were selected through available sampling method and they were randomly put into experimental and control groups (teaching positive parenting). Teaching positive parenting was administered in 8 ninety-minute sessions on the experimental group. All subjects responded to parents' stress and mother-child relationships questionnaires before intervention and at the end of it. The results of COVARIANCE analyses showed that teaching positive parenting was effective on parental stress (p<0. 0006) and mother-child relationship (p<0. 0001). According to the achieved results it can be proposed that teaching positive parenting leads to the decrease of the intensity of parental stress and improving child-mother relationships in the mothers of children with enuresis.
