Background and Objectives: Diabetic patients are highly susceptible to cardiovascular involvement. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to determine the effect of six weeks of moderate-intensity endurance training on serum levels of Klotho and expression of the fibroblast-23 growth factor (FGF23) gene in the hearts of diabetic rats. Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, 21 adult male Wistar rats were randomly divided into three groups of seven: diabetic training group (DT), diabetic control group (DC), and healthy control group (HC). Diabetes was induced by intraperitoneal injection of Streptozotocin (STZ). Animals performed moderate-intensity endurance training for six weeks. Serum levels of Klotho and FGF23 gene expression in the heart tissue were evaluated by Elisa method and real time PCR, respectively. Data were analyzed by one-way analysis of variance and Scheffe’ s post hoc test. Results: The findings showed that after six weeks of training, blood glucose concentration (mg/dl) in the DT group was significantly lower than the DC group (p=0. 001), and serum levels of Klotho (ng/ml) was significantly increased compared to the DC (p=0. 032), but there was no significant difference between the DT and DC groups in the expression of FGF23 gene (relative expression) (p=0. 171). Conclusion: The results suggested that moderate-intensity endurance training has a positive effect on the serum levels of Klotho and blood glucose, and it appears to be somewhat protective of heart function.

Background and Objectives: Water pollution with oil compounds causes the development of new technologies to eliminate oil pollution. The purpose of this study was to determine the efficiency of synthesized zinc oxide nanoparticles in the adsorption of oil from aqueous media. Materials and Methods: In this laboratory study performed in the summer of 2019, zinc oxide nanoparticles were used as adsorbent to remove oil pollution from wastewater. The adsorbent specifications were determined using XRD, FTIR, FESEM and ICP analysis. Adsorption tests were discontinuously done using laboratory solutions containing oil. The optimum conditions for adsorption was examined through changing facors affecting adsorption such as the concentration of the contaminant, the contact time and the amount of adsorbent at different levels. A completely randomized block design was used for data processing. Results: Adsorption rate was 74. 1% and fixed after 20 minutes. The highest adsorption was observed at pH=7 at 85. 27% and the lowest value was observed at pH=9 at 66. 90%. The adsorption rate of zinc oxide nanoparticles at 1. 5 g/l was 79. 90% with a significant difference higher than the other concentrations. Finaly, the rate of oil adsorption in 100 mg/l concentration was 83. 50% with a significant difference with the other concentrations. The adsorption of oil by zinc oxide nanoparticles was consistent with the Freundwich model (R 2 =0. 99). Conclution: Zinc oxide nanoparticles adsorbent has a high efficiency in adsorbing oil from wastewater and can be used to remove oil pollution.

Background and Objectives: One of the genes that has been proven to play a role in colorectal cancer is IL1RL1 (Interleukin 1 receptor like 1). This gene encodes a receptor for interleukin 33 that has been shown with its ligand, to be involved in colorectal cancer. Several single nucleotide polymorphisms are involved in regulating the expression of IL1RL1 gene, so that this study investigated the association between genotypes of rs6543115 polymorphism in the promoter of IL1RL1 gene and colon cancer. Materials and Methods: In this descriptive study, genomic DNA was extracted from blood samples of 100 patients with colon cancer and 100 healthy individuals. The region containing the desired polymorphic site was amplified using appropriate primers and PCR technique, and then was sequenced, and all samples were genotyped. Finally, logistic regression analysis and chi-square test were used to assess the association between rs6543115 genotypes in IL1RL1 gene and colon cancer. Results: The results showed that genotype GC (OR= 0. 273, 95%CI: 0. 090-0. 827, p= 0. 022) and CC (OR= 0. 086, 95%CI: 0. 032-0. 232, p<0. 001) as a risk factor in comparison to genotype GG, significantly decreased the susceptibility of colon cancer. Also, the results showed that the allele C, in comparison to allele G, significantly reduced the risk of colon cancer (OR= 0. 119, 95%CI: 0. 066-0. 232, p< 0. 001). Conclusion: The rs6543115 polymorphism in the IL1RL1 gene appears to be associated with the risk of colon cancer.

Background and Objectives: The combination of resistance and endurance training has a variety of effects on brain tissue. The aim of this study was to determine the tissue changes and NeuN and NF200 factors in the CA1 region of the hippocampus after 6 weeks of combination training in male Wistar rats. Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, 30 rats were divided into 6 groups: young control and training (2 weeks), middle-aged control and training (8 weeks), and old control and training (24 months). Exercise groups were trained for 6 weeks with a combined program. To examine hippocampal tissue changes, gene expression of NeuN and NF200 and also NF200 protein, crystal violet method, real time-PCR method and immunohistochemistry were respectively used. Independent t-test and one-way ANOVA were used to analyze the data. Results: Compared to the control groups, the young (p=0. 005) and middle-aged (p=0. 008) exercise groups had a significant increase in living nerve cell and also the training groups of young (p=0. 003), middle-aged (p<0. 001) and old (p=0. 021) showed a significant increase in NF200 protein in hippocampal tissue. In the study between the training groups, the young group had a significant increase in NF200 protein compared to the middle-aged and old groups (p <0. 001). There was no significant difference among the three exercise groups in the expression of NeuN and NF200 genes (p>0. 05). Conclusion: 6 weeks of combined training at young and Middle Ages have a better effect on living nerve cells. These exercises also significantly improved NF200 protein (without significant changes in genes). This difference seems to be influenced by measurement steps and other secretory sources.

Background and Objectives: Premenstrual syndrome and dysmenorrhea have a negative effect on the personal and social performance of patients. According to the background review, nutrition can play a key role in the prevalence and severity of premenstrual syndrome and dysmenorrhea. Therefore, this study was performed to determine the relationship between nutritional pattern of female students and premenstrual syndrome and primary dysmenorrhea. Materials and Methods: In this descriptive study, 314 female students of Rafsanjan medical sciences departments participated in 2018 as a quota. Data were collected using the Feed Frequency Questionnaire, Premenstrual Symptoms Screening Tool, and Dysmenorrhea Scale. After collecting, data were entered into SPSS version 18 software and then analyzed using Pearson’ s correlation coefficient. Results: The average daily intake of various foods per day was 3208. 21± 1664. 16, premenstrual syndrome score 27. 67± 10. 99 and dysmenorrhea score 5. 47± 2. 37. Among the different food groups, there was only a weak, inverse and significant relationship between dairy consumption and premenstrual syndrome (p= 0. 005, r=-0. 164). There was also no significant relationship between dysmenorrhea score and dietary patterns. Conclusion: With increasing dairy consumption by female students, premenstrual syndrome in these students decreases. Due to the weakness of this relationship in the present study, there is a need for further research in this field.

Background and Objectives: Cost price accounting is a very important tool for management. The aim of this study was to determine the cost price of health services for Covid-19 disease in Ali Ibn Abi Taleb Hospital in Rafsanjan with activitybased costing technique. Materials and Methods: This is a descriptive study in which the total cost of all services related to Covid-19 disease was calculated based on the list of approved government tariffs, using the activity-based costing method (Activity-based costing) in Ali Ibn Abi Taleb Hospital in Rafsanjan in 2020. In this study, 3 main centers (respiratory emergency departments, internal medicine and intensive care units) and the administrative department of the hospital as well as the Deputy of Management and Resources Development (as a support unit) were studied in order to determine the direct and indirect costs. Results: The results showed that the highest cost was related to the internal ward which was equal to 48% (7, 007, 600, 592 Rial) of the total cost in the corona wards of Ali Ibn Abi Taleb Hospital. Also, the intensive care unit had the largest number of patients after the internal ward and consequently the highest amount of expenses which was equal to 33% (4, 122, 117, 995 Rial) of the total cost. Respiratory emergency, with the lowest number of patients, had the lowest cost amount which was 19% (2, 885, 482, 597 Rial) of the total cost. Conclusion: The main share of expenses incurred in all three centers of activity was related to personnel expenses. Therefore, costs can be significantly reduced by proper management and efficient use of human resources.
