The aim of this study was to evaluate the personality traits score in women with breast cancer and compare it with healthy women. Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed on two groups in Isfahan, Iran, from September 2019 to July 2020. The first group included 65 women with breast cancer and the second group included 100 healthy women. After completing Neuroticism-Extraversion-Openness Five-Factor Inventory (NEO-FFI) personality traits questionnaire, personality trait scores were calculated for each person, and were averaged in tow groups; then were compared with each other. SPSS statistical software and descriptive statistical methods were used for statistical analysis of information. Findings: There was no significant difference between the variables of smoking, menstrual status, and onset age of menstruation between the study groups (P > 0. 050), while the frequency distribution of family history in the study groups was significantly different (P < 0. 050). The mean score of extraversion, openness, and conscientiousness traits in the cancer group were significantly lower (P < 0. 050) and neuroticism and agreeableness traits in the cancer group were significantly higher than the healthy group (P < 0. 050). Conclusion: Personality traits of extraversion, openness, and conscientiousness in patients with breast cancer are less than healthy people, and personality traits of neuroticism and agreeableness are more in patients with breast cancer than healthy people.

Abstract:

Background: Turner syndrome is the most common chromosomal X-linked disorder worldwide. This syndrome can be presented with diverse genotypes, and may be accompanied by various anatomical abnormalities. This study aimed to make a view to patients with Turner syndrome thorough ultrasound and echocardiographic evaluations. Methods: The current study was conducted on 75 patients with Turner syndrome undergone karyotyping. Ultrasound study was performed to assess renal, hepatic, and thyroid anomalies. Echocardiography was done to evaluate cardiac anomalies. Findings: The patients with Turner syndrome had the mean age of 15. 29 ± 5. 01 years, among which, 55 (73. 3%) were 45X, 14 (18. 6%) 45X/46XX, and 6 (8. 0%) had structural X chromosome abnormality. Generally, 20 patients (26. 6%) had anatomical urogenitory pathology, including horse-shoe kidney in 9 (12. 0%), duplicated urinary collected syndrome in 8 (10. 7%), and renal malrotation in 7 (9. 3%) patients. Abnormal thyroid echo was found in 19 (25. 3%), thyroid nodule in 21 (28. 0%), and thyroid pseudonodule in 15 (20%) patients. 14 patients (18. 6%) had hepatosteatitis. Echocardiographic studies revealed structural anomalies in 42 patients (56%) among which aortic bicuspid valve in 17 (22. 6%) and coarectation of aorta in 10 patients (13. 3%) were the most common ones, respectively. Conclusion: A remarkable population of patients with Turner syndrome suffer from anatomical renal, thyroid, hepatic, and cardiac abnormalities.

Abstract:

Background: Coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) has led to more than 111, 973, 202 confirmed cases, and more than 2, 478, 409 deaths worldwide. Mortality rates are significantly higher in the elderly than in others during the epidemic of COVID-19; age is significant vulnerabilities to COVID-19. Analysis of clinical features according to the latest published data allows better understanding and better clinical judgment. Methods: In this review study, using the keywords, COVID-19, severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), coronavirus, viral and elderly pneumonia, pandemic, epidemic, quarantine, mental health, and social isolation in articles indexed in Embase, Proquest, Pub med, Google Scholar, Science direct, Scopus, Medline, Cochrane databases from December 2019 to February 2020, were searched. Findings: The elderly of more than 65-year-old are classified in high-risk groups, are more vulnerable than other age groups, and require more attention. Social isolation, social distance, and lockdown has raised concerns about their mental health to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Conclusion: Due to the increasing population of the elderly, such biological disasters, if do not take care of and pay enough attention to the various dimensions and problems caused by its consequences, would affect acute and long-term consequences on community health and general health of the elderly.
