Abstract:

Background & aim: Horizontal violence toward nurses is known as an occupational injury agent around the world that has serious consequences for them. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between nurses’,horizontal violence and the rate of child abuse against their children. Methods: This study was a correlational descriptive study. 230 married nurses with children under 18 years old working in Isfahan social security hospitals were studied according to Cochran's formula by quota sampling method. Data were collected using two standard questionnaires of the parent-child conflict tactics scale (1995) and the Dumont horizontal violent questionnaire (2012). Statistical analysis was performed using descriptive (frequency and percentage, mean and standard deviation) and analytical statistics (Pearson correlation, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA) with SPSS v. 25. Results: Findings showed that the mean score of nurses' horizontal violent and abuse against children among nurses was higher than the average. There was also a positive and significant relationship between nurses horizontal violent and nurses' child abuse (neglect) against their children (r=0. 257, p<0. 001). Conclusion: According to the results, horizontal violence in nurse's professional environment can increase the nurse's abuse (neglect) against their children. Therefore, paying more attention to horizontal violence and holding awareness-raising workshops and training on complications horizontal violence of nurses can help reduce the multifaceted effects of this phenomenon, including neglect against their children.

Abstract:

Background & aim: Improving and recovering services in hospitals and other medical centers are very important for community health and have a significant effect on patient satisfaction. Among the factors promoting services in these centers are the presence of transformational leadership, professional ethics, and emotional work. The present study aims to investigate the effect of transformational leadership on service recovery performance with mediating the professional ethics and emotional work roles in public hospitals in ahwaz. Methods: The present study was a correlational study. The study population consisted of whole staff working at public hospitals in Ahwaz who were in direct contact with clients. The sample size was 384 people who were selected through convenience sampling according to the Cochran formula. To collect data, the Bass & Avolio's Transformational Leadership Questionnaires (2000), the Diefendorff 's Emotional Work Questionnaire (2005), the Boshoff & Allen's Service Recovery Performance Questionnaire (2000), and the Professional Ethics Questionnaire of Miller (2002) were used. Data were analyzed statistically through descriptive (mean and standard deviation) and inferential (path analysis) using SPSS and SmartPls software. Results: The results obtained from data analysis showed that transformational leadership, emotional work, and professional ethics, with path coefficients of 0. 149, 0. 413, and 0. 19, respectively, had significant effects on service recovery performance. The mediating role of emotional work and professional ethics was also confirmed. Conclusion: The findings showed that transformational leadership contributes in enhancing the service recovery performance and on the other hand, emotional work and professional ethics increase service recovery performance in hospitals. Therefore, it is recommended that hospital administrators try to adapt their behaviors to the behavioral criteria of a transformational leader in order to improve the emotional work and professional ethics and thus the recovery performance of hospital staff.

Abstract:

Background & aim: To reduce urolithiasis and its socioeconomic burden for people at risk, adopting preventive strategies aimed at modifying lifestyle factors may be effective. Therefore, the present study aimed to determine the status of health-promoting lifestyle in patients with urolithiasis and its relationship with some socio-demographic factors. Methods: This cross-sectional study is descriptive-analytical in which 300 patients with urolithiasis referred to Rasht medical centers were studied as sample. Data were collected using a socio-demographic and health-promoting lifestyle questionnaire. To interpret the data, SPSS software and descriptive statistical methods, independent t-test, one-way analysis of variance, Spearman, and multiple linear regressions were used. Results: Mean and standard deviation of overall health-promoting lifestyle score was 2. 57±, 0. 47, which indicates a downward average lifestyle status. The highest score was related to the dimension of responsibility towards health (2. 92±, 0. 47) and the lowest score was related to interpersonal relationships (2. 03±, 0. 64). Multiple linear regression model showed that the variables of family history of kidney stones (p=0. 019, β, =-1. 38) and income (p=0. 019, β, =0. 176) are predictors of health promoting lifestyle (R2=0. 21). Conclusion: Considering that the health-promoting lifestyle score and its dimensions were close to the average score and low in the patients participating in the study, it is better to consider the health-promoting lifestyle as a factor in educating patients with urolithiasis. Also, since the family history of the disease and the amount of income were predictive factors in the lifestyle of these patients, it seems that by increasing awareness about kidney stones and its causative factors and financial support of these patients, their lifestyle can be improved.

Abstract:

Background & aim: Avoidance behaviors increase in women with cancer as they feel more alone. On the other hand, these patients feel more concern about their health and their sleep quality decreases. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate avoidance strategies based on general concerns and sleep quality in patients with breast cancer with a mediating role of loneliness. Methods: In this descriptive correlational study, 286 patients with breast cancer referred to public and private centers in Tehran and Alborz provinces were selected to participate in the study. Samples were selected by available sampling methods. Participants then completed the Cancer-Related Loneliness Scale, the General Concern Scale, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, and the Avoidance Strategy. The research data were analyzed using SPSS-23 and LISREL statistical software through confirmatory test, path analysis, and Pearson correlation. Results: The results showed that cancer-related loneliness and avoidance strategy had a significant relationship with sleep quality and general concerns in patients with breast cancer (p<0. 05). In addition, the results of path analysis showed that, avoidance strategies had a direct impact on general concerns and sleep quality, and cancer-related loneliness had indirect effect on sleep quality (p<0. 05). At the same time, cancer-related loneliness failed to mediate the link between avoidance strategies and public concerns. Conclusion: It can be said that avoidance strategies have a direct impact on the general concern and sleep quality of cancer patients. Also, the feeling of loneliness had a direct effect on the sleep quality of breast cancer patients. Therefore, by improving avoidance strategies, the sleep quality of these patients can be improved and their level of anxiety reduced.

Abstract:

Background & aim: Polycystic ovary syndrome is one of the most common endocrine disorders in women that affect the quality of life. Due to the fact that quality of life is affected by different cultures and social norms and beliefs, this study was conducted to determine the quality of life of women with polycystic ovary syndrome referred to Alavi Medical Center in Ardabil. Methods: The present study is a descriptive study in which 75 women with polycystic ovary syndrome referred to Alavi Hospital in Ardabil were studied in the period of February 2021 to May 2021. Sampling was done randomly. The data collection tool was consisted of a two-part questionnaire: the first part consisted of demographic information and the second part consisted of a standard 26-item Women's Quality of Life Questionnaire (PCOSQ). Descriptive and inferential statistical methods (independent t-test) were used to analyze the data. Results: The results showed that the total quality of life score is 52. 96±, 19. 66. Also, the mean and standard deviation of each of the areas related to the quality of life of women with polycystic ovary syndrome from highest to lowest, were included emotional (63. 03±, 20. 43), hirsutism (60. 48±, 15. 30), Weight (59. 94±, 19. 17), infertility (45. 14±, 24. 19), and menstrual disorders (36. 28±, 15. 30). Conclusion: In general, the results of the study showed that the quality of life of people with polycystic ovary syndrome was moderate. Since polycystic ovary syndrome is a multidimensional disease and its complications can have a significant impact on all aspects of a person's life, so the maximum ability to prevent, diagnose and treat of this disease in the field of educational, health and treatment and support measures should be considered.
