Abstract:

Objective: The purpose of this study was to identify the factors and components affecting the design of the proposed model of voluntary activities in libraries of Iran, and finally the proposed model is presented in the form of a paradigm model. Methodology: It is an applied research which was performed as a qualitative one using grounded theory method. The statistical population included professors of Knowledge and Information Science, managers, cultural trustees, library managers, librarians and experts in some areas related to volunteer activities. In order to collect data, 47 of the above individuals, who were selected by purposive sampling method and snowballs, were interviewed. The main criterion for determining the sample size was to reach the theoretical saturation point. Findings: Voluntary activities in libraries in Iran are affected by causal, contextual, intervening, strategic and consequential factors. Each factor also has components that have been identified and presented. The theoretical model of factors and components affecting voluntary activities in Iranian libraries has been proposed in the form of a central coding paradigm model. Conclusion: The most important factors in the implementation of a successful voluntary activity plan in libraries in Iran are three factors. First, creating and amending library rules. This means that it is virtually impossible to implement the plan until new rules and legal framework for the presence of volunteer forces in libraries are created and existing laws are updated and the necessary facilities are provided. Secondly, there are obstacles to attracting volunteer forces, including economic, social, political, cultural, and managerial obstacles. The third factor is the attention to value indicators, especially adherence to high human, national and religious values, which in Iranian society, attention to these factors is very important and effective. Theoretical model was presented according to the identified factors and components. In this model, all factors and components affecting voluntary activities in Iranianian libraries, whether strategic, contextual, or intervening, are considered. Previous studies have shown that voluntary activities are neither black nor white, but gray. In other words, they have both negative and positive aspects. The results of this study showed that this model has positive and negative consequences. Its positive consequences in Iran are far more than its negative consequences. The proposed model is a strategic plan and a complete and practical guide for all libraries and information centers in Iran.

Abstract:

Objective: The aim of this study was to explain the application of text corpus tagging method in sense disambiguation from specialized homographs and increasing the retrieval precision of scientific texts containing such homographs. Methodology: This research was conducted experimentally and it is a supervised method that is one of the three methods of word sense disambiguation. The research sample consisted of 442 scientific articles of two groups of experimental group and control group. The control group had 221 full-text articles without tags and the experimental group had the same 221 tagged articles, which were tested in the information retrieval system to measure the effectiveness of tagging in sense disambiguation from specialized homographs. Findings: The research findings indicate that while retrieval in the control group due to sense ambiguity of specialized homographs is accompanied with false drop and reduced precision, tagging of specialized homographs in the full text of articles in the experimental group have direct effect in sense disambiguation from specialized homographs. It is possible to retrieve specialized homographs related to each tag, while in retrieval based on the control group, this is not possible. The level of significance of the Wilcoxon signed-rank test (P = 0. 0001, Z =-5/909) shows that the accuracy of retrieval results of specialized homograph after using the tagged text corpus in the information retrieval system is significantly different. Examination of negative and positive rankings shows that the accuracy of the results after using the tagged text corpus has increased significantly and has reached its maximum level of 1. Conclusion: The rate of precision in retrieving scientific texts in the research findings is evidence of acceptable tagging effectiveness in sense disambiguation of specialized homographs and its effective role in optimizing the information retrieval system. If retrieval system designers focus on optimizing retrieval formulas in search of specialized homograph and empower retrieval systems to search for related documents, researchers with any physiological, experimental, and knowledge characteristics will be able to access related documents. Access their information needs in a short time. In this study, the value of the text corpus as a rich treasure of knowledge-based for information retrieval system was revealed in distinguishing the semantic role of specialized homographs. Although the research was conducted on limited corpus, the researcher believes that because this limited text corpus was designed in a principled way and the texts were consciously selected, the results of the findings can be generalized to all scientific texts in various fields.

Abstract:

Objective: PRESSoo is a conceptual model for describing serial works. This conceptual model is a formal ontology intended to capture and represent the underlying semantics of bibliographic information about continuing resources. In this research, the feasibility of implementing the PRESSoo model in organizing Persian serials has been studied. The purpose of this study was to identify the degree of adaptation between Persian Bibliographic Records with PRESSoo model. Methodology: The present study is an applied research which is carried out by evaluation method. The population of this study was 90 Persian serials of the Knowledge and Information Science in the National Library and Archives of Iran. In order to collect the required data, 2 adaptive table utilized to analyze the adaptation between Persian Serials with the PRESSoo conceptual model. The first table has been prepared by using PRESSoo classes and data elements of ISSN manual. The other adaptive table has been based on the UNIMARC fields and PRESSoo classes and Properties. The gathered data was analyzed using the excel 2016 software. Findings: The results of this study showed that the, fields used in the Persian serials’,records are related to different classes of PRESSoo model. According to the characteristics and changes observed in the Persian serials’,records of the information science and science serials, among the different classes of PRESSoo Z1, Z5, Z6, Z11 and Z12 should be used in modeling Persian Serials. On the other hand, 18 properties of PRESSoo model out of 46 properties are important in Organizing Persian serials. The results of this study showed that, in the studied records, adaptation between the IRANMARC fields of the RASA software, with 5 classes and 18 properties of PRESSoo were observed. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that the Persian Serials in the National Library and Archives of Iran have low adaptation with the conceptual models. The reasons of this low adaptation are: lack of commitment to the Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules 2, software problems and inattention to essential UNIMARC fields. Likewise, the results of this study revealed that, although there is a sufficient adaptation between IRANMARC fields and PRESSoo conceptual model, but due to the lack of attention to UNIMARC fields in RASA, and the standards like Angelo-American, software problems in Iran, appropriate compatibility between IRANMARC fields and PRESSoo classes was not observed in the studied records. In order to correctly use the conceptual models, it is necessary to use more UNIMARC fields depending on the users' needs.

Abstract:

Objective: Identifying the status of Iranian digital library software in terms of the use of various content management and user portlets. Methodology: This is an applied research done as a heuristic survey. The research was conducted to evaluate the capabilities of various portlets in the field of digital library management in two general areas of content management (collection process management, content production management, classification management, documentation management, loading management, content indexing management, link management and news management) and user management (user management, staff management and user security management) are used in digital library software. Statistical population of the study consists of five Digital Library Softwares Pars Azarsa, Simorgh, Tebyan, and Parwan Farakavash produced by five major library software companies in Iran (Pars Azarakhsh, Nosa, Tebyan, kavash, and Parvanpajooh). Their software products and know-how have matured over time in tandem with technological advancements in their field, with critical inputs from field experts, associated companies, organizations and institutions. They, in the recent ten years, have undertaken many landmark projects that include database and archive automation for their clients. Their knowledge base and software products are unsurpassed in the field of digital data management for libraries and document centers, and this includes the full spectrum of related requirements. All their software products are web based, integrated and user friendly. Some of their major clients include the governmental institutions, private companies, national libraries and universities. The needed data was collected using a researcher-made check-list. Different types of descriptive statistical techniques in collaboration with Kolmogorov–, Smirnov test, ShapiroWilk test and Kruskal-Wallis H test were used for analyzing the data. Findings: In terms of content management, Simorgh had the best performance. The statistical population had the best performance in the "category management" section of the content management field and the weakest performance in the "link management" section. In the field of user management, "Azarsa" had the best performance. The statistical community had the weakest performance in this area in the "forum management" section. Test of research hypotheses showed that there is no significant difference between the digital library software in the use of content management portals and user management. Conclusion: The performance of the statistical population was evaluated for 114 management portlets. The statistical population in the field of content management according to the check-list had an average performance of 80 percent and the average performance of the statistical population in the field of user management was below 63 percent, among which even "Farakavash" and "Parvan" had a performance below 50 percent. Therefore, in general comparison, it was concluded that the statistical community in the field of content management has performed better than user management.

Abstract:

Objective: Strengthening the thinking of the gens is essential for the present and future growth of the child and society, and the children's literature can play an important role to develop thinking and creativity skills. The purpose of the present study is to investigate the extent to which Gilford's components of creativity were used in Persian magazines for children. Methodology: This study is an applied research. The statistical population of the research consisted of Persian children's magazines, covering three content (fictions, non-fictions and pictures), published by 21 prestigious Persian magazine of children and adolescents listed in the year in the division of the Children's Book Council. A stratified random sampling method was used for each of the triple types of content that was 413 non-fiction articles, 152 fiction articles, 433 picture stories and 442 images of nonfiction content. Survey research and content analysis were used to identify components of Gilfor'ds creativity in the content of magazines. A researched-made check-list was the tool for gathering data. The validity of the tool was based on previous research and its reliability was confirmed by intra-group correlation coefficient. It was validated in each phase through consultation with specialists in Children's literature and Information Science. Findings: The findings showed that the mean of Gilford's creative thinking components varies in the content of fiction, nonfiction, and magazine publishing. In the fictional material, the most commonly used component in the storytelling of all journals is the sensitivity component to the problem with the mean of 7. 5 and the lowest average is the complexity and then the combination. In non-fiction articles, it was also found that the average rate of addressing the problem sensitivity component among non-fiction articles was more than the other components, and the least amount of meanings belonged to the evaluation component. It was also found that in pictures, the most average is the sensitivity to the problem, while the amount of attention to the components of creativity in the pictures of children's magazines is small. Another finding showed that the means of the components of creative thinking in non-fiction pictures are more than fictional images, and they have become more relevant to these components. It was also found that in the material of the magazine Tricycle, in non-fiction articles from the magazine, in the narrative images of Soroush Magazine, and in the non-fiction pictures of the magazine, Candles magazine have been able to pay more attention to the components of creativity than other magazines. Conclusion: The Persian journals should pay more attention to the issue of creativity, which would not be possible with their current approach and should be revised in the policy of publishing their works and try to find out what obstacles they encounter in tackling them.

Abstract:

Objective: This study aimed to understand the level of knowledge and use of artificial intelligence technology by librarians of university libraries. Methodology: The present study is a descriptive-applied survey. The statistical population contains of all the librarians of both Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences and Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz. The census method was used and eventually 79 responses were collected. Data was collected using Wood and Allen's (2018) questionnaire and S. P. S. S. Software,Version 24 was used for analysis. Findings: Findings on the use and interaction of librarians in the library around artificial intelligence and virtual assistants (library-related data on artificial intelligence and virtual assistants) equals to 3. 295, which demonstrates a significant difference compared to the standard number. This result indicates that the use and interaction of librarians in the library with regard to artificial intelligence and virtual assistants are at a desirable level. Most librarians are unsure about the use of AI-based capabilities as a means of communicating with members, with 38 percent saying that administrators do not use this capacity for interaction and only 12. 7 percent use librarians' capabilities. Based on artificial intelligence as a means of communicating with members. In a workshop held on artificial intelligence and virtual assistants, most librarians stated that the practice is not performed, and only 4 percent acknowledged that this technology is used in libraries. Most librarians (53. 2%) believe that artificial intelligence will have a positive effect on work, and most librarians (58. 2%) believe that artificial intelligence can improve the quality of library services. The results also showed a significant difference between Shahid Chamran University and Ahvaz Jundishapur University in comparison with the variables of "active use of library intelligence" and "library staff’, s interest in artificial intelligence capabilities. " Conclusion: The use of artificial intelligence technology and virtual assistants to facilitate library activities is an obvious and important matter and is strongly recommended. In addition, the necessary infrastructure to use these technologies ought to be created. Although these systems cannot always be a good alternative for librarians, their presence in the library in the information age is necessity and cannot be ignored. Moreover, in interaction with the user, they promote the role of the librarian as an information interface. While these systems can not always be a good alternative for librarians, their presence in the library in the information age is a necessity that can not be ignored. In general, just as the advent of computers and library software in the past has increased the accuracy and speed of library services, it is clear that the introduction and application of artificial intelligence technology in libraries has not been ineffective. In this regard, the necessary training should be provided to librarians and library administrators, and even to users.

Abstract:

Objective: The purpose of this study is to determine the status of knowledge management components in higher education resources and curricula using the study of previous research. Methodology: The present study is a type of mixed exploratory research projects. First, knowledge management components were extracted by content analysis method. Based on that, a questionnaire in the form of 9 main components and 44 questions was provided to knowledge management experts. In addition to the questionnaire, a check-list was prepared in the form of 442 sub-items. In order to prepare a list of doctoral dissertations in the field of knowledge and information science, the orientation of knowledge and information management and the master's degree of management in the field of knowledge and information management were examined. Then, 122 published Persian and English articles between 2000 and 2020 in the field of knowledge management in higher education were reviewed. Findings: The review of previous texts showed that among the nine components studied, the knowledge sharing component had the highest share of 26/67 percent and the knowledge protection component had the lowest share of 4/43 percent. The components of knowledge application were 15/85 percent knowledge creation was 14/17 percent, knowledge change was 10/63 percent, and knowledge organization was 9/65 percent. The components of knowledge identification gained 7/68 percent, knowledge development gained 5/91 percent and the component of knowledge presentation gained 5/02 percent. Conclusion: Higher education is considered as the most important source of knowledge sharing by presenting new models of knowledge and measuring and evaluating knowledge, which is a necessary precondition for successful application of knowledge. Knowledge creation and development are also among the most important missions of higher education that lead to the application and updating of theoretical knowledge. Knowledge change is also a reciprocal process between explicit and implicit knowledge that leads to the creation of new knowledge. Knowledge protection is one of the gaps in higher education that failure to pay attention to it disrupts the success of knowledge management because the success of knowledge management is the product of adopting and implementing an appropriate and integrated strategy in higher education. The textbook is a basic learning resource in higher education that determines the structure of study within the curriculum. Therefore, it is necessary for higher education to pay more attention to the proposed curriculum resources to provide and teach all components of knowledge so that professionals and graduates of higher education have sufficient abilities to acquire knowledge, apply knowledge, share knowledge and have the necessary innovation and creativity in society.

Abstract:

Objective: The purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics of arrays and decorations in the manuscripts of the Qajar period in the in-text section and to study the patterns and colors widely used in the manuscripts of this period. Methodology: The method of this research is descriptive-analytical. In this regard, first, the typographic characteristics of selected array pages are described. And inductively, common features are enumerated and analyzed. By purposeful sampling method, 77 art manuscripts with a scribe and writing date from Qajar period were selected from the exquisite manuscripts of the National Library. Notably, 34 sample images of these manuscripts are presented in this research. Findings: Qajar illumination has continued the Safavid style with the difference that the congressional margin is observed with a regular rhythm and large head-pieces. Qajar book decoration style has a special place as a coherent and school style in Iranian painting. And it has all the features (property) of a thematic and applied education of a painting school. Basically, the art of book decoration was mostly dependent on the court. And kings, princes, and local rulers were the most important clients of works of art and sponsors of art. Half of the studied Qurans have four or two pages with arrays in the opening papers (containing a list of chapters and prayers before recitation). The opening pages of all manuscripts of the Quran and prayer books and 76 percent of the literary books and 90 percent of the selected scientific manuscripts have head-pieces and inscriptions. In all Qurans, there are two opening pages and in the other manuscript, there is an opening page with a head-pieces and inscription. Most of the design of the head-pieces is the same as the dome or altar pattern. Ornate colored flowers have been used extensively in the text of gilding and sometimes in the layout of the head-pieces. The use of Arabesque in gilding the opening pages of the manuscripts under study is less varied. The flowers and leaves of Khatai are abundantly seen in the arrays of the opening pages of selected manuscripts. The purity and radiance of the colors used in the arrays of these books has created a kind of freshness and radiance. All Qurans and prayer books and 35 percent of literary books and 50 percent of selected scientific manuscripts have array margins on the opening pages. In the margins of the gilded and jeweled of the books, various types of Khatai flowers and leaves and Arabesque motifs are drawn on a golden or azure background and in some samples on the paper itself. In the inscriptions of this period, Arabesque motifs are mostly designed in the form of frames or headbands, and the various thorns of the inscription are filled with Khatai motifs and small flowers.
