Abstract:

Background & Aims Sexual dissatisfaction in women has several consequences. Due to the cultural factors and the traditional context of Iranian cities, there are limitations for women to talk about sexual issues and do not express their sexual satisfaction during the necessary care in reproductive age. This study aims to determine the relationship between sexual satisfaction and marital burnout of women living in Yasuj, Iran. Received: 07 Jan 2021 Accepted: 20 Feb 2023 Available Online: 01 Mar 2023 Materials & Methods This cross-sectional study was conducted on 300 married women referred to four comprehensive health centers in Yasuj. Data was collected using a demographic form, the Married Women’, s Sexual Satisfaction Questionnaire (MWSSQ), and the Couple Burnout Measure (CBM). The data was analyzed using the Pearson correlation test in SPSS software, version 22. Results The component of mental and physical barriers to sexual satisfaction had a significant positive correlation with the total score of CBM (r=0. 488, P<0. 001). Other three components of MWSSQ, including antecedents (r=-0. 624, P<0. 001), husband-related factors (r=-0. 662, P<0. 001), and dominant cultural values (r=-0. 447, P<0. 001) had a significant negative correlation with the total score of CBM. Conclusion Higher mental and physical barriers to sexual satisfaction can cause higher marital burnout in women, while lower antecedents, husband-related factors, and cultural values related to sexual performance can reduce marital burnout. Healthcare workers working in health centers should check women's sexual satisfaction status and, if necessary, remove their mental and physical barriers to sexual satisfaction and improve their physical, mental, and emotional conditions and relationships with husbands by providing training and counseling to them.

Abstract:

Background & Aims Considering the prevalence of COVID-19, the sensitivity of the nursing profession, and the harmful effects of job burnout on the quality of nursing care, the present study aims to investigate the role of personality traits, work-family conflicts, and social support in predicting job burnout of nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic. Materials & Methods This descriptive-analytical study with a cross-sectional design was conducted from August to September 2021, coinciding with the fifth wave of COVID-19 in Iran, on 130 nurses working in four hospitals in Ilam province, who were selected by a random sampling method. Data collection tools were a demographic form, Maslach burnout questionnaire, NEO personality inventory, Carlson's workfamily conflict scale, and Zimet's multidimensional scale of perceived social support. The collected data were analyzed in SPSS software, version 26 using Pearson's correlation test and regression analysis. The significant level was set at 0. 05. Results According to the results of regression analysis, the relationship of work-family conflict with job burnout was negative and significant (P<0. 05). The extroversion had the highest effect on emotional exhaustion (β, =-0. 351). Perceived social support had no significant effect on job burnout (P>0. 05). Agreeableness had the highest effect on depersonalization (β, =0. 405). The work-family conflict had the highest effect on personal accomplishment (β, =0. 260). Conclusion Personality traits, work-family conflicts, and social support can predict the occurrence of job burnout in nurses. It is necessary for the hospital authorities to use supportive and educational measures to reduce job burnout in nurses during the pandemic.

Abstract:

Background & Aims Corona virus became an epidemic in the world in 2019. During the epidemic, fear and anxiety were the main reports of nurses, and nurses in departments such as special care and emergency are more susceptible to these disorders, which, if left untreated, have a negative impact on the quality and safety level of the care system. Materials & Methods The current research was a cross-sectional study that was conducted on 205 nurses working in the Corona special care and emergency departments of Iran University of Medical Sciences. Sampling was done by enumeration method. The tools included demographic questionnaires, anxiety of COVID-19 and fear of COVID-19. Results There was a negative and significant correlation between the anxiety of nurses due to COVID-19 and the duration of work in the corona ward (P<0. 001). The fear of COVID-19 was significantly higher in married nurses (P=0. 02) and nurses with a history of COVID-19 (P=0. 006) than other nurses. There was a statistically significant relationship between the fear of COVID-19 and the frequency of contracting this disease (P=0. 021). The fear of COVID-19 was significantly higher in nurses who were infected with this disease than those who were not infected at all (P=0. 034). Conclusion The results showed the average level of anxiety and fear in nurses. Considering the many problems that such disorders cause for nurses, the need for effective planning to reduce and improve its physical and psychological effects on nurses is recommended in order to provide optimal and highquality care.

Abstract:

Background & Aims One of the problems that threatens children in developing countries is the issue of child labor. Working children have lower hope for the future than their normal peers. Working in childhood can have a negative effect on the growth and cognitive performance of children. This study aims to investigate the prevalence of hopelessness and dysfunctional attitudes in working children of southern Tehran. Materials & Methods This is a descriptive-cross-sectional study. The study population consists of all working children and adolescents engaged in child labor aged 10-18 years under the support of child laborers support centers in the south of Tehran. Of these, 247 were selected for the study using a continuous sampling method that lasted 8 months from April to November 2021. The data collection tools were a demographic checklist and the children's dysfunctional attitude scale (DAS) of D’, Alessandro and Burton, and the children's hopelessness scale (CHS) of Kazdin (1986). The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (mean, standard deviation, frequency and percentage) and inferential statistics (analysis of variance, independent t-test, and Pearson's correlation test) in SPSS software, version 16. The significance level was set at 0. 05. Results The results showed that the average score of hopelessness (5. 78±, 2. 60) with a standard deviation of 5. 78±, 2. 60 was at a favorable level, among the dimensions of hopelessness, the average score of the dimension of future expectations (3. 87±, 1. 87) in hopelessness was higher than the dimension of happiness (2. 00±, 1. 39). The average ineffective attitude in the study was 96. 16±, 74. 11. Hopelessness only had a statistically significant relationship with the work status of the children in the study (P=0. 029). There was no statistically significant correlation between ineffective attitude and hopelessness of working children (P<0. 050). Hopelessness only had a statistically significant relationship with the work status of the children in the study (P=0. 029). Conclusion It is recommended that interventional studies be conducted to improve the future expectations of children, and focus more on working children whose guardian is someone other than parents. Given the lack of a significant relationship between dysfunctional attitudes and hopelessness in working children in the south of Tehran, it is recommended that the mediating and confounding variables be investigated.

Abstract:

Background & Aims Lower self-efficacy of female nurses compared to male nurses has been reported in several studies. One of the consequences of low self-efficacy is reduced quality of patient care, especially in challenging situations. Mindfulness exercises may improve self-efficacy by reducing stress. This study aims to determine the effect of Mindfulness exercises training on the self-efficacy of female nurses. Materials & Methods In this experimental study, participants were 60 female nurses working in Afshar Hospital in Yazd, Iran in 2019, who were selected using a convenience sampling method and randomly assigned into two groups of intervention and control. The Mindfulness exercises training was performed at eight two-hour sessions in the intervention group. The control group did not receive any intervention. The data were collected using a demographic checklist and Sherer (1982)’, s general self-efficacy scale, and analyzed in SPSS software, version 19 using descriptive and inferential statistics (chi-square test, independent t-test, and paired t-test). Results The two groups were matched for demographic characteristics (age, work experience, and education level). The mean self-efficacy score was not significantly different between the control (47. 23±, 5. 65) and intervention (46. 36±, 3. 89) group before the intervention (P=0. 49). After the intervention, the mean score reached 47. 86±, 4. 91 in the control group and 50. 40±, 5. 33 in the intervention group. However, based on the independent t-test results, no significant difference was observed between the two groups (P=0. 06). Conclusion The Mindfulness exercises training do not exert any significant effect on the self-efficacy of female nurses. More studies are recommended in this field by examining the intervening factors, using a follow-up period, and providing intervention for a longer period.
