Introduction: The least expensive way to prevent hospital infections is hand hygiene. This study investigated the causes of non-observance of hand hygiene in the intensive care unit (ICU) department of the studied hospitals and effective strategies to reduce it. Materials and Methods: This interventional study was conducted in the ICU wards of six hospitals (A-F) affiliated with Tehran University of Medical Sciences, 2018-2020. In order to improve the process of hand hygiene, the-nine step FOCUS-PDCA method was used. In each hospital, hand hygiene compliance was measured in five different situations (before contact with the patient, before aseptic procedures, after contact with the patient fluids, after contact with the patient, and after contact with the environment), in three professional career subgroups before and after the implementation of the intervention, using the World Health Organization checklist by the trained people. The data were analyzed in SPSS software version 24. Results: In all the hospitals under study, the level of hand hygiene compliance in all five situations had a significantly increasing trend, so that at the end of the study in the six medical centers, the level of hand hygiene compliance reached above 41%. In all medical centers, nurses had the highest amount of hand washing. After the intervention, the average level of hand hygiene in all hospitals increased significantly (p<0. 01) and reached41. 6%. Also, the level of hand hygiene in all job professional subgroups showed a significantly increasing trend (p<0. 01) in which the nurses had the highest scores. An increasing trend was observed in all five different situations of hand hygiene in all hospitals (p<0. 01). Conclusion: The findings of the present study showed that the implementation of the FOCUS-PDCA model in the hospital can increase the level of hand hygiene compliance among healthcare workers, especially nurses.

Abstract:

Introduction: Sports activity is one of the non-invasive ways to rehabilitate and prevent complications and consequences of diseases related to Covid-19. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of moderate intensity aerobic exercise on the serum levels of interleukin-6, interleukin-10 and C-reactive protein in patients recovered from Covid-19. Materials and Methods: For this purpose, 24 men recovered from Covid-19 were voluntarily selected and placed in two groups of experimental (12 people) and control (12 people) in a simple random manner. The experimental group participated in an eight-week aerobic training program, three sessions per week, each session lasted about 40 to 55 minutes with an intensity equal to 60 to 80% of the maximum heart rate. Serum levels of IL-6, IL-10 and CRP (before and 48 hours after the protocol) were measured. The data was analyzed using the covariance statistical test (ANCOVA) at the (p<0. 05) level. Results: The results showed that aerobic exercise did not lead to a significant change in the serum levels of IL-6 (p>0. 05) and IL-10 (p>0. 05) in the experimental group compared to the control group, however, it caused a significant decrease in the serum levels of CRP (p<0. 05) in the experimental group. In addition, examining intra-group changes in IL-10 and CRP indicated that there is a significant change between the mean score before and after implementation of the protocol in the experimental group (p<0. 05). While there was no significant difference between the before and after values in IL-6 (p<0. 05). Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, aerobic exercises can regulate and balance anti-inflammatory and inflammatory cytokines and adjust the amount of C-reactive protein through the recovery of physical fitness in patients who have recovered from Covid-19.

Abstract:

Introduction: Candida vaginitis is a common disease in women which is accompanied by annoying symptoms in the genital area. Therefore, the present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the level of sexual satisfaction and its related factors in women with and without candida vaginitis. Materials and Methods: This research is a cross-sectional study. In this study, 180 women referring to women's specialist clinic, Ayatollah Kashani Hospital, Jiroft city, were selected by convenience sampling method and divided into two groups of 90 patients (cases) and non-patients (controls). Data were collected using Larson's sexual satisfaction questionnaire. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 19 software and descriptive and inferential statistical tests. Results: The average score of sexual satisfaction in the group of affected women was 71. 87 ±7. 82 and in the group of non-affected women it was 77. 30 ±7. 29. The amount of sexual satisfaction in the control group is more than the case group, which is a statistically significant difference (p<0. 05). It was also found that women with higher socio-economic status and education have more sexual satisfaction (p<0. 05). Conclusion: According to the significant difference in sexual satisfaction in the group of infected and non-infected women, it can be concluded that candida infection is another variable influencing the level of women's satisfaction in sex, As a result, paying attention to this variableis recommended in examining women with complaints of decreased sexual satisfaction.

Abstract:

Introduction: Obesity and related diseases are associated with oxidative stress and vascular endothelial disorder. The present study was conducted with the aim of determining the effect of aerobic training combined with selen plus consumption on total antioxidant capacity (TAC) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in obese women with metabolic syndrome. Materials and Methods: For this purpose, 48 inactive obese women with metabolic syndrome aged between 30-45 years were randomly divided into four groups: control (without intervention),Selen plus (1000 grams/daily), exercise (aerobic training) and combined group (aerobic training + selen plus). The intervention lasted 8 weeks. Fasting levels of TAC and VEGF and anthropometric indices were measured before and 48 hours after the last training session in each group. ANCOVA statistical test was used to compare the data, and paired t test was used to determine intra-group changes (p<0. 05). Results: Compared to the control group, the serum level of VEGF in the exercise group (p<0. 001) and TAC in the selen plus group (p<0. 01) increased significantly. On the other hand, the levels of both TAC and VEGF increased significantly in the combined group compared to other groups (p<0. 001). Conclusion: The findings of the present study indicated more antioxidant and cardiovascular effects of Selen Plus consumption during aerobic training compared to each of them alone. Further studies are required to understand the mechanisms responsible for the effect of Selen Plus during exercise on cardiovascular function.
