Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to compare the effect of six weeks of functional (hopping), extra-functional (core stability), and the combined (hopping and core stability) training on dynamic balance in athletes with Functional Ankle Instability. participants were selected purposefully Using Identification of functional ankle instability questionnaire, then randomly assigned into functional, extra-functional, combined and control groups. Y balance test was performed before and after interventions.. Differences were observed. Multiple comparisons revealed that functional and combined groups performed significantly better than extra-functional and control groups for the balance test. No significant difference was observed between functional and combined Group to show any predominance to improve balance. According to the result, the efficiency of functional and not extra-functional training on dynamic balance in athletes with functional ankle instability was approved. Therefore it is recommended not to emphasize particularly on core stability until being proved by further studies.

Abstract:

Thus the aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of FIFA 11+ Warm-Up Program in reducing the rate of sport injury in young male soccer players. Thirty five teams from youth league of Iran participated in this study. Teams were randomized to an intervention or a control group. Teams in the intervention group performed the +11 at least twice in week as warm up prior training throughout the season. All participants of the control group continued their practice sessions as usual. All soccer-related injuries and player exposure to practice sessions and matches was reported weekly by the coaches and medical staff. During season, we recorded 1220 soccer related injuries. Poisson distribution showed that the overall injury rate in the training group (14.1 injuries/1000 player-hours) was significantly lower than overall injury rate in the control group (24.3 injuries/1000 h), (P<0.05), (RR= 0.58).

Abstract:

the aim of this study was to investigate the effect of functional stabilization training on trunk muscle electromyography activity of physically active female with trunk control deficit and prone to Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury. Electromyography of Gluteus Medius, Quadratus Lumborum, Transverse Abdominis/Internal oblique, External Oblique was performed on twenty five active females with trunk control deficit before and after 6 week functional stabilization training and activation of muscles calculated in 100 mili second after initial contact in landing. The results indicated that there are significant differences between post test of control and experimental groups in muscles activations that indicating the effectiveness of functional stabilization training. Based on this study results, activation of muscles reduced after 6 week of functional stabilization training. This reduction revealed that neuromuscular control of this muscle was improved and subjects can do the same task with lesser energy consumption.

Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of heel height variations on selected muscles activity (with emphasize on co-contraction) and joint angle during squat exercise. Joint range of motion and electromyographic activity from medial gastrocnemius, tibialis anterior, rectus femoris, vastus medialis, vastus laterlis, biceps femoris, semitendinosus and erector spinae muscles of ten active males were recorded while performed squat exercise at 0, 2, 3 and 4 cm of heel height conditions. A reduction activity was observed for tibialis anterior muscle while heel height, but there was no significant differences for the other muscles. There was a lower general co-contraction of the ankle joint muscles at 3 cm heel height condition that could minimize the perturbing effects of external loads on ankle during squat exercise. Therefore, performing squat exercise at 3 cm height condition could be recommended as a suitable position for both rehabilitation and sport applications purposes.

Abstract:

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of Pilates exercises on disability and abdominal and back muscle strength in patients with chronic low back pain caused by disc herniation. 30 male and female patients with chronic low back pain due to disc herniation were divided into experimental and control groups. The experimental group underwent six weeks pilates exercises; whereas the control group received conventional treatment at the same time. Questionnaire Oswestry,Straight leg raising test and Dynamometer test were used to assess variables disability, abdominal muscle endurance and back muscle endurance, respectively Analysis of covariance test was used to analyze the data. Results showed that the pilates exercises for six weeks caused a significant reduction in disability and a significant increase in abdominal muscle strength and back muscles strength the experimental group than the control group. Hence, cautious prescription of pilates exercises for these patients would be beneficial.

Abstract:

Plantar fasciitis is the most common cause of heel pain that there are many treatment methods for it. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of 8 week aquatic exercise in patient with plantar fasciitis.45 participant with plantar fasciitis were recruited. Participants allocated in 2 groups, exercise (n=30) and control (n=15). The training program consisted of 8 weeks (average 53 min, 3 days) progressive aquatic training involving plantar fascia & calf muscle stretching, and intrinsic foot muscles strengthening. Evaluated variable including Pain in the morning were measured in both groups. The data were analyzed using independent and dependent T-test at threshold of 0.05. in the experimental group patient, pain in the morning showed a significant difference end of 8 weeks. Furthermore, the difference was significant compared with the control group. So, 8 weeks progressive aquatic exercise reduces pain in the morning of patients with plantar fasciitis.
