Abstract:

The generalized KP (GKP) equations with an arbitrary nonlinear term model and characterize many nonlinear physical phenomena. The symmetries of GKP equation with an arbitrary nonlinear term are obtained. The condition that must satisfy for existence the symmetries group of GKP is derived and also the obtained symmetries are classified according to different forms of the nonlinear term. The resulting similarity reductions are studied by performing the bifurcation and the phase portrait of GKP and also the corresponding solitary wave solutions of GKP equation are constructed.

Abstract:

We have demonstrated the structural and magnetic properties of small carbon clusters (Cn, n=2-12) in the framework of collinear approximation using density functional theory. The calculations were performed for amorphous, linear, and ring carbon clusters using full-potential local-orbital method. We have obtained stable structures, total energies, total magnetic moments, and HOMOLUMO energy gap of these clusters. We have found that the amorphous carbon clusters with minimum energy are not magnetic clusters, whereas their less-stable isomers with special configurations are ferromagnetic objects. Two robust magnetic moments were found for C5 carbon ring (6mB) and for pentagonal pyramid C6 structure (4mB).

Abstract:

In this work, tin-doped indium was deposited on a glass substrate via the electron beam evaporation technique. Then, the as-grown thin films were baked in the presence of oxygen at different O2 flow rates and temperatures inside a furnace to obtain transparent conducting oxide thin film structures. The electrical and optical properties of the layers were investigated, the thickness of all samples was kept at 500 nm and the rate of deposition was set at 0.1 nm min-1. The best optical and electrical properties were obtained at O2 flow rate of 1.5 Nl min-1 and temperatures of 500oC where above 90%optical transparency and £4×10-3 ohm cm-1 electrical resistivity were achieved.

Abstract:

In this experimental study, the effect of dye concentration on the optical properties of red-BS dyedoped polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) thin films is investigated. Three thin film samples with different concentration of red-BS dye were prepared by spin-coating method on the glass substrate. Using transmission and reflection spectrum of films, their optical parameter such as refractive index, absorption coefficient, and dielectric function are extracted and the effect of dye impurity on theses parameters has been studied. The band gap energy of samples is calculated using Tauc method. Band gap energy of samples is decreased by increasing the concentration of dye impurity in PVA films.

Abstract:

ZnO nanoparticles were synthesized from chitosan and zinc chloride by a precipitation method. The synthesized ZnO nanoparticles were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction peak profile analysis, Scanning electron microscopy, Transmission electron microscopy and Photoluminescence. The X-ray diffraction results revealed that the sample was crystalline with a hexagonal wurtzite phase. We have investigated the crystallite development in ZnO nanoparticles by X-ray peak profile analysis. The Williamson–Hall analysis and size–strain plot were used to study the individual contributions of crystallite sizes and lattice straine e on the peak broadening of ZnO nanoparticles. The parameters including strain, stress and energy density value were calculated for all the reflection peaks of X-ray diffraction corresponding to wurtzite hexagonal phase of ZnO lying in the range 20o–80o using the modified form of Williamson–Hall plots and size–strain plot. The results showed that the crystallite size estimated from Scherrer’s formula, Williamson–Hall plots and size–strain plot, and the particle size estimated from Transmission electron microscopy analysis are very much inter-correlated. Both methods, the X-ray diffraction and Transmission electron microscopy, provide less deviation between crystallite size and particle size in the present case.

Abstract:

On the basis of the theory of thermodynamics, a new formalism of classical nonrelativistic mechanics of a mass point is proposed. The particle trajectories of a general dynamical system defined on a (1+n) -dimensional smooth manifold are geometrically treated as dynamical variables. The statistical mechanics of particle trajectories are constructed in a classical manner. Thermodynamic variables are introduced through a partition function based on a canonical ensemble of trajectories. Within this theoretical framework, classical mechanics can be interpreted as an equilibrium state of statistical mechanics. The relationship between classical and quantum mechanics is discussed from the viewpoint of statistical mechanics. The maximum-entropy principle is shown to provide a unified view of both classical and quantum mechanics.

Abstract:

Partial discharge (PD) taking place within narrow channels produces a large number of charged particles, causing degradation of the polymer. Additionally, PD pulses also produce UV photons due to decay of excited states (radiative states) in air. These may have enough energy to break C–C bonds and thereby add to the degradation of the dielectrics surrounding the narrow channel. In this paper, a radiation transport (RT) model has been developed and integrated with a Particle-in-Cell/ Monte Carlo collision (PIC-MCC) model to study the behavior of excited (radiative) states of air within discharge in the narrow channel. The radiative state atoms are described by a fluid model combined with the Holstein–Biberman equation. This model has the ablation to follow the spatial evolution of the radiative excited-state density throughout narrow channel. The effect of applied electric field, narrow channel dimensions, gas pressure on the extent of degradation of dielectrics surrounding the narrow channel is studied.

Abstract:

Study of the microstructure of silicon carbide (SiC) membrane as a function of sintering temperature and the percentage amount of additive kaolin is the outcome of the experimental fabrications presented in this paper. The SEM micrographs are used to investigate the impact of above parameters on the porosity of membrane. The experimental results show that the rise in the temperature causes more sintering of powder particles, growing granules, augmentation of the number of pores and consequently increasing the total porosity of membrane. Using XRD analyses, it is found that SiC amorphous phase is highly sensitive to the temperature and its crystallization physically grows with temperature increase.

Abstract:

In this research, for the first time, we synthesize magnesium nitride thin films on 304-type stainless steel substrates using a Mather-type (2 kJ) plasma focus (PF) device. The films of magnesium nitride are coated with different number of focus shots (like 15, 25 and 35) at a distance of 8 cm from the anode tip and at 0o angular position with respect to the anode axis. For investigation of the structural properties and surface morphology of magnesium nitride films, we utilized the X-ray diffractometer (XRD), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis, respectively. Also, the elemental composition is characterized by energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis. Furthermore, Vicker’s microhardness is used to study the mechanical properties of the deposited films. The results show that the degree of crystallinity of deposited thin films (from XRD), the average size of particles and surface roughness (from AFM), crystalline growth of structures (from SEM) and the hardness values of the films depend on the number of focus shots. The EDX analysis demonstrates the existence of the elemental composition of magnesium in the deposited samples.

Abstract:

In this paper, an all-optical filter is proposed which employs a resonant cavity localized between input and output waveguides as wavelength selecting part of the filter. We study the impact of different parameters on the filtering of the structure using plane wave expansion and finite difference time domain methods. We also study the effect of the output waveguide position on the performance of the filter and results show that the proper position of the output waveguide is straight to the center of the resonant cavity. The initial form of filter is capable of selecting the optical waves at l=1,554.2 nm and the transmission efficiency of the filter is obtained about 100%. The total footprint of the filter is<76 mm2. High transmission efficiency, simplicity of design and compact size are the most significant advantages of filter.

Abstract:

The basic features of nonlinear ion acoustic (IA) waves are theoretically studied in a superthermal electron–positron–ion (e–p–i) plasma with weakly transverse perturbation. A three-dimensional Kadomtsev–Petviashvili (KP) equation governing evolution of weakly nonlinear IA waves is derived by means of a reductive perturbation method. The energy integral equation is used to study the existence domain of the localized structures. It is found that deviation from thermodynamics equilibrium increases the existence domain of solitary solution and also makes the IA solitary structure more spiky. The ion concentration has an important effect on the existence domain of solitary solution, as for low ion density the primitive domain reduces significantly.

Abstract:

The basic properties and form factors of the deuteron system are investigated for the different forms of the Wood–Saxon potential. We have used the Nikiforov-Uvarov (NU) method for analytical solution of the radial Schrodinger equation. A comparison of the calculated values with experimental results are given. It is shown that the obtained results for the modified form of the Wood–Saxon potential are very close to the experimental results in comparison with other forms of the potential.

Abstract:

Point reactor kinetics equations with one group of delayed neutrons in the presence of the time-dependent external neutron source are solved analytically during the start-up of a nuclear reactor. Our model incorporates the random nature of the source and linear reactivity variation. We establish a general relationship between the expectation values of source intensity and the expectation values of neutron density of the sub-critical reactor by ignoring the term of the second derivative for neutron density in neutron point kinetics equations. The results of the analytical solution are in good agreement with the results obtained with numerical solution.

Abstract:

The present study deals with spatially homogeneous and totally anisotropic Bianchi type-VI0 bulk viscous cosmological models in Lyra geometry. The Einstein’s field equations have been solved exactly by taking the shear (s) in the model proportional to expansion scalar (q) which leads to A=Bn, where A and B are metric functions and n is a positive constant (n>1). We also adopt a condition xq=L (constant) where x is the coefficient of bulk viscosity. It has been found that the displacement vector (b) is a decreasing function of time and it approaches to a small positive value at late time which is supported by recent observations. It is also found that the distance modulus curve of derived model matches with observations perfectly.

Abstract:

We show that after a quantum quench of the parameter controlling the number of particles in a Fermi–Hubbard model on scale-free graphs, the distribution of energy modes follows a power-law dependent on the quenched parameter and the connectivity of the graph. This paper contributes to the literature of quantum quenches on lattices, in which, for many integrable lattice models the distribution of modes after a quench thermalizes to a generalized Gibbs ensemble; this paper provides another example of distribution which can arise after relaxation. We argue that the main role is played by the symmetry of the underlying lattice which, in the case we study, is scale free, and to the distortion in the density of modes.
