Abstract:

Objective: Various risk factors have been proposed for Coronary heart disease (CHD), which psychological factors have important role in outbreak or intensification and continuance of these disruptions. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between Anger, Psychological Hardiness and Quality of life on Coronary heart disease Patients. Methods: The population in this causal relationship study was all Coronary heart disease Patients of Ahwaz. Among them 100 patients was selected using available sampling method that had referred to Golestan Hospital Professional Heart Clinic in Ahwaz city. The research instruments were Spielberger’s State-trait Anger Expression Inventory 2 (STAXI-2), Quality of Life Inventory (SF-36) and Psychological Hardiness Scale of Ahwaz. Results: The proposed model of the relationships between variables was tested using structural equation modeling. The fit indices indicated that the proposed model was fit with data as well (IFI=0.91, CFI=0.91). The results of the analysis showed that The Anger (r=0.86) and hardiness (r=0.95) had relationship with Quality of life directly. But there was no indirect relationship between anger and Hardiness. Conclusion: health has numerous dimensions which effect on quality of life In the other hands psychological indices and quality of life were related to each other, because of their effect on health problems and disease.

Abstract:

Objective: Recent approaches in diabetes consider the role of patients as significant as a clinician and emphasis on patient’s responsibility in control and management of diabetes. There are many different educational packages for empowerment, but Evaluation of efficacy of diabetes empowerment educational programs before implementing them is necessary. Diabetes Empowerment Scale (DES), especially in short form version is one of the most appropriate tools for this purpose, the aim of this study was assessment of psychometrics properties of DES-SF in Iran.Method: After preparing the original questionnaire, it was translated by three bilingual translators and endorse by three patients, three psychologists and three physictions whom work in diabetes field, Questionnaire distribute among 200 sample of patients whom where introduced by Shahriar Diabetes Association. The validity of the Questionnaire was investigated by convergent validity and exploratory factor analysis and reliability was investigated by test-retest, spilt- half methods and Alpha Cronbach coefficient. Results: Reults of factor analysis of DES using Varimax rotation method, yielded 2 factors which explained 69.91% of the total variance. Convergent validity was confirmed by computing a correlation coefficient between subscales together and with total scale, which was significance between 0.62 until 0.91 (p<0.01). And the reliability of the scale by test-retest, spilt-half and Cronbach Alpha, were consecutively 0.89, 0.85 and 0.89.Conclusion: Considering the research results can be stated that the Diabetes Empowerment Scale (short form) generally is valid and reliable tool for evaluating of the Iranian adult empowerment.

Women had higher score on HA compared to men. Differences between two genders were significant on beliefs relevant to Autonomic Sensations and Bodily Weakness. Mean of these subscales were significantly higher in men. No gender differences were observed in Intolerance of Bodily Complaints, Catastrophizing Interpretation of Bodily Complaints and Health Habits. Conclusion: Female are at higher risk for health anxiety, and female and male have different pattern of dysfunctional belief about health.

Abstract:

Objective: In this study, the effectiveness of stress management training on reduction of psychological symptoms and glycemic control has been investigated in diabetic patients.Method: The participants were 36 diabetic patients that were selected from among those who regularly referred to Diabetes Clinic at Emam Khomeini Hospital in order to follow their therapeutic process in Ardabil. Selected subjects divided equally and randomly in two groups (experimental and control group). Experimental group attended in stress management training for 12 sessions. The subjects were evaluated in three stages (pretreatment, post treatment, and follow-up) by SCL-90-R and HbA1c assessment experiment. ANCOVA and repeated measures were used to analyze the data. Results: Results showed that stress management training is effective in reduction of the glycemic control index (HbA1c), somatic complaints, depression, sensitivity in interpersonal relationship and anxiety scores of experimental subjects (P<0.01) and these effectiveness were stable in 3-month follow-up.Conclusion: These findings showed that stress management training is effective on reduction of psychological symptoms and glycemic control in diabetic patients and can be used as an effective treatment in these patients.
