Abstract:

Background and Aim: Among destructive treatments for removal of unwanted hair, hair removal laser devices have widely replaced the old fashion methods due to their safety and effectiveness. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effective factors on treating unwanted hairs with a laser device. Methods: This retrospective study, was performed on records of 122 patients who referred to a hair and skin clinic. Patients with hirsutism or other diseases were excluded. Hair thickness and color, skin color, number of laser sessions, age and sessions interval were evaluated. The collected data were analyzed by compeutering program SPSS version 21, analytic tests chi-square and logistic regression (P less than 0. 05 considered meaningful). Results: The average age of participants was 31. 3± 6. 6 years. The average number of laser sessions was 5. 4± 2. 1 and the most satisfying outcome was observed in dark hairs and more than 5 sessions (P<0. 05). Multivariate logistic regression model illustrated that the number of sessions directly impacts the effectiveness of treating unwanted hair (P<0. 05). Level below the rock curve and the sensitivity were 0. 71(0. 61-0. 81) and 0. 759, respectively. Conclusion: This study showed that hair thickness and color, number of laser sessions are important factors on hair removal treatments by laser. For optimal outcome more sessions with longer follow up is recommended.

Background and Aim: The adolescence is one of the phases that adolescents experience significant physical changes during it, these change can causes the changes in body image especially in girls but body image is a psychological phenomenon that be powerfully affected by sociocultural factors. So, it is necessary to study body image in cultural context. The present study aimed to investigate the role of the sociocultural pressures and mediators mechanisms in the development of dissatisfaction among Iranian Adolescent Girls. Methods: A sample of 250 adolescent girls, ages 15 to 18, were selected from Karaj city by using multi-stage cluster random sampling and responded a set of questionnaires including "The Sociocultural Attitudes Towards Appearance Scale-4 (SATAQ-4)", "Physical Appearance Comparison Scale-Revised (PACS-R)" and "Body Areas Satisfaction Scale (BASS)". The collected data analyzed using Lisrel and was used path analysis method. Results: The results of the path analysis indicated that the paths of media and peer pressure on internalization had significant coefficients but the path of parent pressure was not significant. Also, the mechanisms of the appearance compare and internalization mediate the relationship of sociocultural pressures and body dissatisfaction. Conclusion: The results indicate sociocultural perspective can predict the development of dissatisfaction among Iranian Adolescent Girls based on sociocultural pressures and their mediator mechanisms.

Abstract:

Background and Aim: Burn is a risk, which threatens human beings every day in various forms. It is one of the most destructive injuries, associated with various physical and psychological complications. Burn affects the quality of life and life satisfaction. Evaluation of life satisfaction is very important due to its close relationship with physical and mental health. Given the high prevalence of burn in Iran and the presence of challenges in the treatment and rehabilitation of these patients, we decided to conduct this research to evaluate the life satisfaction in burned patients, admitted to Burn Injuries and Reconstructive Surgery Center in Rasht. Methods: In this descriptive-analytical research, 379 burned patients were included in the study using convenient sampling method. The Diner Life Satisfaction Questionnaire was used to collect the data. Data were analyzed using descriptive and analytical statistics. The significance level was considered to be less than 0. 05. Results: Most of the subjects were male (64. 1%) and had high level of education (34. 6%). Also, most of them returned to their previous jobs (83. 4%). Most of patients (48. 5%) were satisfied with their life and the variables of lodging (P<0. 0001), educational level (P<0. 0001), marital status after burn (P=0. 05), pre-burn job (P=0. 016), post-burn job (P=0. 014), skin graft (P<0. 0001) and insurance (P<0. 0001) were considered as predictive variables related to life satisfaction. Conclusion: Since burn injury was expected to cause more than obtained dissatisfaction, other factors such as the power of faith and satisfaction with divine providence, high life expectancy, etc may influence their state of satisfaction. Thus, it is recommended that supporting and charity institutions (such as welfare, relief committee, IRIB, etc. ) provide more support for these patients. It is also recommended that programs and classes with advisory and educational content be held for patients and their families.

Abstract:

Rosacea is an inflammatory, chronic and cosmetically annoying common dermatologic disorder which presents with cutaneous telangiectasia, sustained erythema with courses of flares and flushings, papulopustular lesions, ocular involvement or disfigurating phymas. Although there are many relative effective medical therapies, however there are not any promissable treatment. Due to chronic nature of disease and exhausting usage of topical or systemic therapies, we decided to review Pubmed's literature for non-medical physical therapies, looking for more effective modalities and minimal side effects, particularly in intractable cases.

Abstract:

Fungi are eukaryotic organisms that potentially have the ability to cause disease in humans and animals. Fungal infections are called mycosis, which are divided into four types of superficial, cutaneous, subcutaneous and systemic, depending on the area of the body involved. Though cutaneous mycoses are rarely life-threatening infections, they can isolate the patient socially due to the disfigurement of the tissues they caused, as a result of which, treatment has always been an important issue. On the other hand the similarity of fungi to mammalian cells led to difficulties in the development of novel antifungal drugs. Consequently, in recent years, extensive efforts have been made to design and develop novel drug delivery systems with better efficacy for drug delivery of conventional anti-fungal drugs. In this study, we compared conventional forms and novel drug delivery systems of a number of antifungal drugs. All studies confirm the relative priority of novel drug delivery systems to conventional forms in terms of penetration, release, and antifungal effects.
