The biology of Hippodamia variegata was studied under laboratory conditions during 2000-2001. Adult Coccinellids collected in alfalfa field in Rostam - Abad region were transferred to laboratory. With the use of obtained duration of lady beetle development stages at four temperaturs (20, 25, 30, 35°C) and 65±5% RH and 16: 8 (L: D) photoperiod were investigated. The mean duration of development times of H. variegata from egg to adult at temperatures of 20, 25, 30 and 35°C feeding on,,4phis nerii were 28.88, 21.04,13.08 and 10. 30 days respectively. The maximum and minimum hatching percent were observed at 25 and 35°C respectively. The thermal development threshold of egg, larval stages, pre pupa, pupa and egg to adult, were 11. 16, 13.4, 12.96, 13.48 and 12. 76°C respectively. The thermal development threshold ranged from 11. 16 for eggs to 14.33 for 3rd instar larve with heat unit requirements of 42 and 25. 75 degree days, respectively and that for egg-adult was 230. 13. The average of egg laying duration was 52±2.27 days and daily oviposition mean for each female was 43.77±2.51 eggs. e daily egg laying amount, total egg laid and the egg laying period.
