Abstract:

Aim: The present study aimed to determine the effectiveness of emotionally focused therapy (EFT) in reducing marital conflict in women. Methods: The present quasiexperimental study was a pretest-posttest with experimental and control groups and its statistical population consisted of married women with marital conflict. We selected 28 women from those, who participated in emotionally focused training sessions and randomly assigned them to experimental (N=14) and control (N=14) groups. The women in the experimental group received a 90-minute Johnson's Emotionally Focused Therapy intervention (2004). Both groups answered the Marital Conflict Questionnaire by Barati et al. (1996) before and after the training sessions. We analyzed the data using analysis of covariance (ANCOVA). Results: The results indicated that emotionally focused therapy was effective in reducing marital conflict (P=0. 001, F=92. 96), and components of marital conflict in women in the experimental group. Conclusion: Emotionally focused therapy improved marital conflict scores compared to the control group. According to the research findings, emotionally focused therapy was effective in reducing marital conflict.

Aim: The present study aimed to determine the effectiveness of Adlerian therapy in improving the quality of life of divorced women. Methods: The present quasi-experimental study was a pretest-posttest with experimental and control groups and its statistical population consisted of 30 divorced women. Using the random sampling method, we assigned them to experimental (n=15) and control (n=15) groups. The women in the experimental group underwent the group Adlerian therapy intervention in six 90-minute sessions. The research instrument included the World Health Organization Quality of Life (WHOQOL) questionnaire that was completed by both groups in the pretest and posttest. We analyzed data using analysis of covariance (ANCOVA). Results: The results indicated that the Adlerian therapy intervention was effective in improving quality of life (P<0. 001, F= 202. 83) in women in the experimental group. Conclusion: Adlerian therapy improved quality of life scores compared to the control group. According to the research findings, Adlerian therapy was effective in improving the quality of life.

Abstract:

Aim: The present study aimed to determine the relationship between the general health index and Coronavirus anxiety in employees. Methods: The present study was descriptive-correlational so that we selected a sample of 110 male and female employees of public offices in Mashhad using convenience sampling and they responded to Goldberg's General Health Questionnaire (GHQ) and Coronavirus Anxiety Scale by Alipour et al (2019). online and via virtual networks. We analyzed data using Pearson correlation coefficient and regression. Results: The results of data analysis indicated that there was a significant negative correlation between scores of general health indices and Coronavirus anxiety (P<0. 001, r=0. 36). Furthermore, there was a positive and significant correlation between the coronavirus anxiety index with depression, anxiety, physical status, and general health, but it had an insignificant correlation with social dysfunction (P>0. 05, r=0. 18). Conclusion: According to the results, the incidence of COVID-19 damaged physical health and also caused mental illnesses. Therefore, it is essential to identify people prone to anxiety and psychological disorders at different levels of society, whose mental health may be endangered due to crises by the current socio-economic status of society, to help maintain the public mental health in society by appropriate intervention and treatment strategies and techniques.

Abstract:

Aim: The present study aimed to determine the role of couples' communication patterns in the emotional detachment of married students. Methods: The research was a basic correlational study. The statisticalpopulation consisted of all married students studying at the Azad University of Mashhad in the academic year of 2020. We selected the samples using convenience sampling, and the sample size was equal to 246. We collected data using Fitzpatrick and Ritchie Family Communication Patterns Questionnaire (1990), and Gottman Emotional Divorce Scale (EDS) (2008). We used multiple regression analysis to analyze the data. Results: The results indicated a significant negative correlation between the conversation orientation communication pattern and emotional detachment, but a significant direct correlation between conformity orientation communication pattern and emotional detachment. Conclusion: Emotional divorce can decrease by providing necessary training to improve family communication patterns and the adaptive motivational structure of couples who have emotional divorce problems or are seeking a divorce.

Abstract:

Aim: The present study aimed to evaluate the effects of short-term intensive scanning psychotherapy on defense styles and improving the quality of life of patients with substance abuse disorder under methadone maintenance treatment. Methods: The present study was quasi-experimental with a pretestposttest design and a control group. The study examined 14 men addicts under methadone maintenance treatment in Tehran from 2018 to 2020. We selected the addicts from care centers affiliated to Tehran Welfare Organization using the cluster sampling method from districts 2, 7, 14, and 19 as well as eligible centers by convenience sampling and randomly classified them into control (7 men) and experimental (7 men) groups. To collect data, we utilized the Defense Style Questionnaire (DSQ) by Andrews et al. (1993) and the World Health Organization Quality of Life-BREF (WHOQOL-BREF) and analyzed the data using analysis of covariance (ANCOVA). Results: There was a significant difference between the pretest and posttest ofthe experimental group in scores of developed defense styles, neurotic defense styles, and undeveloped defense styles (P<0. 05), but there was not any significant difference between the pretest and posttest of the control group. In the experimental group, the effectiveness of the intervention was stable for three months. There was a significant difference between the pretest and posttest results of the experimental group in quality of life index (P<0. 05), but there was not any significant difference between the pretest and posttest of the control group, and the effectiveness of the intervention was not stable during three months after cessation of treatment. Conclusion: The results indicated that short-term intensive scanning psychotherapy was effective in improving defense styles and the quality of life of patients with substance abuse disorder under methadone maintenance treatment.
