Introduction: Sleep disorder is one of the most common problems in menopausal women. Therefore, this study was performed with aim to determine the effect of chamomile extract on sleep disorder in menopausal women. Methods: This double blind clinical trial study was conducted on 110 menopausal women aged 50-60 years who referred to health clinics of Arak and met the inclusion criteria. The subjects after convenience sampling were randomly included to one of the intervention or control groups. The intervention group received Chamomile capsule containing 400 mg of Chamomile extract twice a day for one month and control group received no intervention. At the end of the intervention, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index was again completed by the subjects. Data were analyzed by SPSS software (version 18) and Chi-square, paired t and independent t -tests.Results: The mean sleep quality score in the intervetion group before taking the drug was 13.68±1.68 that changed to 9.07±1.53 after the intervention. Also the mean of this index in the control group was 12.98±2.50 before the intervention and 11.72±2.45 after the intervention. There was significant difference between the mean of sleep quality score in the intervention group before and after the intervention (P=0.001), but it was not significantly different in the control group (P=0.149). Also, there was significant difference between mean score of sleep quality in intervention and control groups after the intervention (P=0.001).Conclusion: Using Chamomile extract is effective in reducing sleep disorder of menopausal women.

Abstract:

Introduction: Low frequency of tumor incidence and metastatic case of breast cancer in multiparous mothers accompanied with this hypothesis that the incidence of microchimerism could be one of the reason of this phenomenon. Therefore, in this study, to investigate mononuclear cells response of peripheral blood adjacent in culture with tumor cell lines of breast cancer, it was attempted to implement an in-vitro co-culture model. Methods: From 48 multiparous mothers and nulliparous women, Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells (PBMC)were purified and isolated by contribution of Ficoll (1077) density gradient centrifugation. By using of trans well system, culture of tumor cell lines (MCF-7, MDA-231) was performed adjacent with isolated cells. Lymphocyte proliferation assay by BrdU kit and immune-phenotyping of cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CD3+ CD8+) by Flow-cytometric analysis in two period of 48 and 72 h after co-culture was performed. Results: Mean of lymphocyte proliferation was higher in multiparous women than nulliparous women and was statistically significant in 48 h and 72 h (P<0.001). Also, mean of lymphocyte proliferation of multiparous women in MCF-7 line (P=0.026) and in MDA-231cell line (P<0.001) showed significant results. Determination of the percentage of the population of cytotoxic lymphocytes (CD3+ CD8+) showed no significant difference between two groups (P=0.603).Conclusion: The cellular immune responses of multiparous mothers in co-culture with tumor cell lines have clear difference compared with nulliparous women that can lead to the resistance of the mothers against breast tumors. This pheromone could be related to micochimerism during pregnancy. Conclusion about the relation of breast tumor and pregnancy needs to investigate the anti-tumor responses with larger sample size.

Abstract:

Introduction: Perinatal mortality is one of the stressful events with harmful and psychological effects in women’s life which influences their quality of life. This study was performed with aim to deeply understand the mothers' experience of perinatal death. Methods: This qualitative study was conducted at Urmia city in 2012. Sampling was performed as purposeful method and 14 mothers with experience of perinatal death were interviewed. Constant comparative analysis was used to analyze data. Results: The experience of mothers compatibility with perinatal death and its related factors was obtained in 24 sub-themes that of these classes, four main themes were appeared including "need to be understood", "forgetfulness", "self-justification" and "hope to the birth of a healthy baby in the future".Conclusion: According to the results of this study when the mothers are exposed to perinatal death try to forget it with their justification in order to hope to the next pregnancy and they need to be understood during this process. Offering palliative and supportive service by care system facilitates this process.
