The main objective of this paper is to study on sharing mechanism of the joint house of couples. The dependent variable of the research is the home owner and theindependent ones are the amount of women cooperation in buying house, women’s decision making power, education, employment, and ratio of women’s income to their husbands’, the amount of women’s income spending at home, and the breadwinner idea.The 383 married women who live in Gorgan city, Golestan province, Iran, have been selected as research sample by multistage cluster sampling method.The results have shown that husbands more than wives, and employed women more than housekeeping wives share in the ownership of a house. Among indirect variables, the amount of women economic cooperation on buying house, their decision making power, and the breadwinner idea has significant relationship with dependent variables. Although other variable such as women education, employment, ratio of woman’s income to their husband’s, the amount of women’s income spendingat home have no direct effect on women sharing of house, it can play a considerable role to increase the possibility of women economic cooperation tobuying house.Therefore, based on the theoretical framework of the study, any social policy with restraining effect on women education, employment, and financial income, or, the ways reinforcing gender rolesconnected to women’s income and their cooperation in family economics, may prove effective on women economic situation in family and their portion of joint house sharing.
