FACTORS AFFECTING EXPORT OF PROCESSED FOOD PRODUCTS IN IRAN

Abstract

 The main purpose of this study was to investigate factors affecting food industries EXPORT SUPPLY for the period of 1981-2004. EXPORT SUPPLY function was estimated using Auto-Regressive Distributed Lag (ARDL). Time series data were collected from various sources such as balance sheet of the Central Bank of Iran as well as statistical yearbooks. The ARDL MODEL consists of variables such as quantity of food industries exports, investment in food processing industries, price index of exported goods, price index of food, real exchange rate, gross national product (GNP) and the dummy variable of war. Results indicated that the variables are co integrated. So, there is a long run relationship between food industries exports supply and the other variables. Also, investment in food processing industries and price index of food directly affect PROCESSED FOOD export, but GNP and dummy variable of war had inverse effect. The error correction model (ECM) is indicative of a relatively rapid adjustment of short run disequilibrium toward the long run equilibrium.
