THE STUDY OF EFFECTS OF DIFFERENT LEVELS OF NITROGEN AND POTASSIUM ON GRAIN YIELD, YIELD COMPONENTS AND LIGHT EXTINATION COEFFICIENT OF MAIZE (ZEA MAYS L.)

Abstract

 A field study was conducted at Islamic Azad University Research farm of Saveh Branch in 2005 to find out the effects of different levels of nitrogen and potassium on grain yield of MAIZE (zea mays L.). A Randomized complete block design experiment was carried out with four replications that consisted of 5 levels. The results indicated that different levels of fertilizer had significant effect on grain yield, number of grain per ear and one thousand grain weight. With increasing of nitrogen and potassium levels, grain yield increased, But it was not significant between N300K100 and N200K100 levels. However, there was no significant effect on number of kernel row. Different fertilizer levels had significant effect on LIGHT EXTINATION COEFFICIENT on 1% level, that maximum of K (0.67) was reached from N300K100 level. It was concluded that treatment of N200K100 could increase yield and yield componenets of MAIZE but higher levels had no significant effects.
