Abstract

Considering the high level of oil and oilseed imports into the country, one of the central governmental policies is to increase the cultivation of oilseeds, including rapeseed. Hence, the present study aimed to identify, categorize, and prioritize the strategies used for rapeseed cultivation expansion in the eastern villages of Mazandaran province. The research plan followed a mixed-method approach with a sequential exploratory design, incorporating a qualitative method (content analysis using MAXQDA ProV2020 software) to identify strategies and criteria, develop the research instrument, and categorize the applied strategies. Finally, a quantitative method (Analytic Network Process using Super Decision V2.6.0 software) was employed to determine the importance and priorities of various strategies. In summary, crop management, technical and institutional support, organizational policies and government support, financial and market management, cooperation and motivation, educational and extension activities, environmental health, and sustainable production were identified and classified into seven categories of strategies for rapeseed cultivation expansion. Additionally, the results of the Analytic Network Process (ANP) revealed that the top three prioritized strategies for rapeseed cultivation expansion in the eastern villages of Mazandaran province were "providing suitable and high-quality poisons and pesticides," "holding suitable and timely extension training courses," and "integrated cultivation of rapeseed by neighboring farmers." Based on these findings, fostering the expansion of rapeseed cultivation in the eastern villages of Mazandaran province requires comprehensive support for rapeseed growers, including the provision of inputs and the implementation of targeted extension-educational activities through model site creation and research-extension plans.
