Abstract

 In order to study the effects of different integrated nutritional systems including organic, chemical, and BIOLOGICAL FERTILIZERs on yield and quality traits of maize variety S.C. 704, an experiment was conducted at the Research Farm of Faculty of Agriculture, Tarbiat Modares University, in Iran, during 2010 growing season. Factorial treatments were arranged in a randomized complete block design with three replications. Treatments included five nutritional systems consisting of A1 (8 tons/ha of ORGANIC FERTILIZER), A2 (6 tons/ha of ORGANIC FERTILIZER + 100 kg urea /ha), A3 (4 tons/ha of ORGANIC FERTILIZER + 200 kg urea /ha), A4 (2 tons/ha of ORGANIC FERTILIZER + 300 kg urea /ha) and A5 (400 kg urea /ha), and two BIOLOGICAL FERTILIZER treatments consisting of B1 (seed inoculation with free living nitrogen fixation bacteria) and B2 (non-inoculated seed). Results showed that different nutritional systems significantly increased grain yield, harvest index, biological yield, and quality traits. Grain yield, harvest index, and protein percent in the integrated nutritional system A3 were 10 tons/ha, 46.72, and 11.24 percent, respectively. In inoculated treatment (B1), grain yield, biological yield, harvest index, and quality traits were higher than the control treatment. Grain yield, harvest index, and protein percent in treatments inoculated with bacteria were 9.78 tons/ha, 44.10%, and 10.86%, respectively.
