Abstract

To evaluate the effect of planting pattern and seed rate on GRAIN FILLING PROCESS of the yield of CANOLA oil, a farm experiment was conducted during 2007– 2008 period at Behbahan agricultural research station using cultivar RGS003 as a split plot based on a randomized complete block design with four replications. The treatments were four levels planting pattern (50 cm and 60 cm mound width with 2, 3 planting rows) as main plots and four levels seed rate (4, 6, 8 and 10 kg/ha) as sub plots. Results indicated that grain filling period (GFP) and oil percentage were significant as levels %1 and %5 at planting pattern. The highest GFP with in 65.5 days was obtained by 60 cm mound width and 3 planting rows, whereas most of oil percentage with %47.28 was obtained by 50 cm mound width in 2 planting rows. With decreasing seed rate, GFP and oil percentage were increased, though difference between treatments was not significant. Also grain filling rate (GFR) and OIL YIELD were significant at planting pattern and seed rate levels (P< %1). The maximum GFR equivalence of 4.45 gr m-2 day-1 and the most OIL YIELD equivalence of 1297.42 kg ha-1 were produced by 60 cm mound width in 2 planting rows with 4 kg/ha seed usage. Increasing density and seed usage, decreased GFR and OIL YIELD. Regarding the results, planting of 2 rows on 60 cm mound width with 4 kg/ha seed usage for increasing GFR and obtaining higher OIL YIELD, is recommended.
