Abstract

 Creating a product requires lots of factors. How to deal with these factors is very effective in advancing the design process. Theories and attitudes before the designer make his mind up, then create a plan and finally the success of the project will be determined by the audience. Discover a new way and new approaches to create different and positive mental effects on user by seeing and using of a product could be a good experience. This research introduces "FOLDing theory". This philosophy has been based on multi-valued and FUZZY logic which tries to omit binaries. FOLDing theory presented by Eisenman in architecture and Frank O.Gehry in industrial design. FOLDing attempts to make FOLDed structure forms and curved and twisted shapes, according to FRACTAL geometry in industrial design and architecture... in this paper we look at the history of FOLDing, then introduce the basic and effective principles of this approach and finally its application in product design. This article is based on paper descriptive case study with the aim of introducing and defining parameters in the design of products under FOLDing attitude. The key question in this study is that how does the governing rules of this philosophy influence on product design and how to apply this theory in the aesthetic matters? Or in the other words describe, what is the relationship between the measures of this idea and old strategies in product design? Finally with interpretation and presenting examples of famous designers show the leading rule of FOLDing theory in creating innovative works which have pleasant appearance and their application is consistent with the terms of their structure.
