Abstract

This paper attempts to study on the Sassanid ruler shroud and clothes with discursive semiotic approach. This approach, for Review and explanation of the samples entered into social, political, and ideological context with focuses on semiotic elements. In the present paper, the visual text is the motifs on the CLOTHES OF RULER who is the first position of POWER hence, inevitably, the semiotic approach interacts with elements and relationships of POWER discourse, and the article enters the Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) as such, considers the social, political, and ideological codes. In this analysis, implicit statements, which have been pretend ordinary with ideological nature, are decoded by connotations. Indeed the main questions of the paper are: Do the motifs on the CLOTHES OF RULER have a concept beyond the primary meaning? In addition, what are the most discourses of motifs according to their function? The paper tries to achieve discourse that had been probably the intent of ruler probably and eventually is believed that the motifs on clothes for ruler in Sassanid dynasty are a matter to legitimize his position of POWER.
