Abstract

Preharvest fruit splitting is physiological problem in CITRUS trade and it is caused economic losses to the CITRUS orchards of world. In order to survey relation between fruits growth pattern with prevalence of fruit splitting, a study was conducted based on Randomized complete block design for two years in 2009 and 2010 and relation between some of morphological and anatomical traits of reproductive organs (cell number per area unit of peel surface, peel thickness, L/D ratio of fruit and presence or absence of navel in fruit) in TANGERINE CULTIVARS included Unshiu, Clementine, Page with PREHARVEST FRUIT SPLITTINGwere studied. Results showed that morphological traits and cells number in skin surface unit and present climate conditions affected appearing intensity of fruit splitting significantly (p≤0.01). Unshiu cultivar had the least and Page cultivar had the most of PREHARVEST FRUIT SPLITTING but cultivars didnt have similar pattern during 2 years.
