Title

RESEARCH OF ANATOMY AND ONTOGENY OF TORTULA RURALIS L. MOSS

Pages

  40-47

Abstract

In this research, Tortula ruralis L. moss with new name Syntrichia ruralis belonging to POTTIACEAE CLASS in sporophyte and gametophyte stages in two growth seasons spring and autumn was collected and evaluated. First, sample analysed regarding gross form moss gametophyte (Acrocarp or Pleurocarp), leaf properties (shap and colour of blade), seta status (colour, smooth or complex), capsule shape, calyptra, pristomic thooth and SPORE arrangement, then after confirmed with steriomicroscope, optical microscope and electron microscope, different parts of it used for future studies. Morphology and anatomical structure of it assessed by using hand and microtomical sections with common methods for Cytohistology. Hand sections of leaf and microtomic cross sections from leaf, stem, capsule as well as longitudal section from steriobtained. In cross sections of moss leaf is simple and composed of single layer and in middle of the leaf has a greater density. In longitudual sections from stem, apical cell observed, indicating that moss have proliferation ability for creating leafly gametophyte. In cross sections of moss stem has paranchimatic cells and cells with thick layers that called steroids band that are differentiated for the structural support. In cross sections from capsule has single layer and there are large number of SPOREs in it.
