Abstract

Flower parts of Tanacetum parthenium (L.) Schultz - Bip. (Feverfew, Asteraceae) are collected from Tochal and Shemiranat montaines, Chaloos road and Shahrestanak, on mide of Jun 1996. After drying plant at room temperature, essential oil extracted by steam distillation method, with 0.6%. Essential oil composition analyzed by GC ad GC/MS.The identity of the oil compositions was from comparison of their MS spectra with their GC retention indices and the amount of the individual compounds in most cases was expressed as a percent of the total GC peak area. CHAMPHOR (35.39%), Chrysanthenyl acetate (30.36%), Chrysanthenol (3.34%), b - Caryophyllene (1.37%) and Germacrene D (1.02%) being predominant.
