Abstract

During a survey on 106 ALBURNUS CHAROUSINI fishes caught from Shahid Modarres barrage in KASHMAR, LIGULA intestinalis (Parasitic cestoda) were found. The abdominal cavity of fishes were infected, and PARASITE pushed the inner organs of fish. Soon after seing the fishes were fixed and carried to the laboratory for further study. Abdominal cavity of fishes were disected and seperated PARASITE studied under the sterio and light microscope. After identification the collected L. intestinalis were fixed in 4% buffer formalin. Prevalance of infection was 35.8 and 1-13 PARASITE collected from each infected fishes. The final host of L. intestinalis are piscivorous birds and the eggs of PARASITE spread in water source and fish farms of this area. This is the first report of L. intestinalis infection on A. charousini from IRAN.
