Title

THE STUDY ON SEVERITY OFINFECTION (SOL) OF WHITE SPOT DISEASE IN DIFFERENT ORGANS OF SHRIMP LITOPENAEUS VANNAMEI

Pages

  31-38

Abstract

The SEVERITY OF INFECTION (SOI) of white spot Disease (WSD) was studied in different organs of shrimp LITOPENAEUS VANNAMEI consist of hepatopancreas, gill, stomach, intestine, cuticle and hean. Ninety suspect samples were collected and fixed in Davidson Fixative solution and prepare for histopatogenectity. The SEVERITY OF INFECTION was determined according the estimated Cowdry type A inclusion body in different slides for different organs and viewed by 40 Power of light microscope. The SOI grading is from 0 to 4 degree by counting the inclusion body of WSD. Results showed that SOl of cuticle were (78%), Intestine (65%), stomach (63%), gill (57%), hean (33%) and hepatopancreas (0%). Therefore the average quantitative SOI in this study were 36% (grade 4), 8/1% (grade 3), 7/5% (grade 2) and 3/7% (grade 1). The main organ that showed highly SOI was cuticle due sensitivity of epidermis layer of cuticle to virus. The hepatopancreas had the lowest SOI and indicates organ don't have the receptors for the virus.
