Abstract

Rhabdomysarcoma is a neoplasia that arising skeletal muscles. This tumor is rarely found in domestic animals.In spring 2011, cadaver of a 4 year-old female doberman DOG with history of weakness, anorexia, lethargy, respiratory distress and bradycardia was referred for autopsy. Sudden death was occurred while walking after 3 days intravenous administration of Gentamycin, Necropsy findings on macroscopic view revealed a large number of irregular yellowish-brown nodules with soft consistency with overall dimensions of 12x5x4 cm in the MEDIASTINum area.On microscopic view, many large polyhedral neoplastic cells while has mitotic division, granular cytoplasm with infiltration of eosinophilic cells were visible. Immunohistochemistry studies, Tumor cells were positive reactions with desmin and vimentin markers. Tumor has metastasis to thelungs and kidneys. According to results of the histopathology and immunohistochemistry, RHABDOMYOSARCOMA tumor was confirmed.According to our knowledge, this is the first report of a rare RHABDOMYOSARCOMA tumor in the doberman DOG in Iran.
