Abstract

Basics of sustainability in architecture are defined in three dimensions of economic, environmental, and social aspects, based on sustainable development measures. One of the great issues in sustainable development is the balanced growth of these measures. There are some models for assessing and planning of sustainability of human residential areas, but by localism approach in implementing sustainability theories and plans, it is essential that these models be adapted and tailored for local conditions. This problem together with specialty that has appeared in different aspects of architecture and civil engineering makes it very important to build a new method and framework for balanced SUSTAINABLE ARCHITECTURE planning based on architectural and sustainability findings. Using Balanced score cards method of Norton & Kaplan (1996) which firstly was introduced for economic and strategic planning as a management framework and tool, an instrument is suggested to put together all the needs and essentials in applying a sustainable architectural plan and monitoring its implementation through known indicators.
