Abstract

In order to prioritize the BENEFITS and limitations of INTEGRATED RICE-FISH FARMING a descriptive study was conducted in 2012 in the Guilan province. In this study, target population was formed from Fisheries Department and Agricultural Organization (Jihad-e-Keshavarzi) experts. The sample size in this study was consisted of 110 experts (55 experts from the Fisheries Department and 55 experts from the Agriculture Department of Guilan Province). The analysis and prioritization was performed by screening method of triangular fuzzy numbers. Results showed that most important of INTEGRATED RICE-FISH FARMING BENEFITS in Guilan province were more accessible of villagers to white meat through the production of fish, optimal and dual use of rice fields, pollution reduction and environmental sustainability by reducing the use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers, fish production as an additional product and increase revenue rice farmers, dual use from water irrigation resources, increase soil fertility of rice field by fish farming, biological control of weeds and pests. Also, results showed that limitations of rice-fish farming were lack of extension professionals in rural areas, economic PROBLEMS and lack of adequate facilities, lack of knowledge and expertise, lack of insurance, animals hunter, shortage of anoxia in rice fields, mortality of fish in rice fields and dehydration PROBLEMS and poor water quality.
