Abstract

A digital instrument for measuring slippage of farm TRACTORs wheels was designed, fabricated and evaluated based on MICROCONTROLLER 89c51. MICROCONTROLLER 89cSl was programmed using assembly language. The infrared SENSOR units were fixed on rear wheel axle of TRACTOR and the fifth wheel axle as the source of pulse generation. The output pulses from these two sources were filtered and amplified before being the input to MICROCONTROLLER. The output was displayed on a LCD monitor as a percentage of slip. The instrument performance was tested in both laboratory and field. Field tests were carried out using MF399 TRACTOR with tow different levels of drawbar pull, namely high and low pull Data were obtained through 4 replication of experiments carried out in both conventional and digital method. The analysis of results showed that there was no significant difference between the manual and digital method at %1 probability level.
