Comparison of Numerical Simulation of Heat Transfer in a Tube Heat Exchanger Equipped with a Vortex Simple Tube

Abstract

 In this study, the variations in Heat Transfer at different angles of Vortex Rod and different Reynold numbers are investigated in order to obtain the optimal value of Heat Transfer. For this purpose, the angles of the Vortex Rod in 5 orientation of 15, 30, 45, 60 and 75 degrees were investigated in Reynolds 300, 900, 1800. Also, alumina nanoparticles (3% volume fraction) is added to the fluid and the results are compared with the non-nanoparticle state. The vortex bars in the tube are in 3 rows at 120 degrees angle and each row contains 11 rods. The increased temperature inside the tube results from the formation of a rotating flow and a vortex due to the collision of the fluid with the Vortex Rods. The results of this study show that the Vortex Rod in the tube causes turbulent flow and the temperature of the fluid inside the tube increases, and the higher Reynolds number cause to higher Heat Transfer rate, and also, the Heat Transfer in the tube equipped with a Vortex Rod is higher than the tube without the Vortex Rod. Also, presence of nanoscale alumina with a volume of 3% increases the Heat Transfer significantly. And finally, it was observed that the highest Heat Transfer rate is related to the angle of 30 degrees of the Vortex Rod and the Reynolds of 1800.
