Abstract

 In this paper, Entropy generation of Al2O3-water Nanofluid in a Solar flat plate collector with Twisted tapes has been investigated numerically. ANSYS Fluent commercial software has been used for numerical simulation. Realizable k-ε turbulence model was applied for Turbulent flow modeling. The analysis of Entropy generation can help to best design from theory of the second law of thermodynamics. Influences of arrangements of the Twisted tape and Reynolds number on frictional and thermal Entropy generations have been presented. By increasing the diameter ratio (D*) and revaluation of ratio (N), the heat transfer rate is increased. So, the thermal Entropy generation is reduced with rise of such parameters but opposite trend is observed for friction Entropy generation due to the increase of the velocity gradient. The smallest values of thermal and frictional Entropy generations rate are obtained 4748. 13 W/m3K and 17. 33 W/m3K, respectively. Moreover, Bejan number decreases with increase of D*, N and Re. The best design belongs to the case with highest second law efficiency (about 68%) which is occurred for greatest diameter ratio, revaluation of ratio and Reynolds number.
