Abstract

Feasibility of BROODSTOCKING of RABBITFISH (Siganus sutar) in CONCRETE TANKS was surveyed in HORMOZGAN PROVINCE. Juveniles were captured by used of gillnet and hooks in sea grass beds and rocky coastal area of Bandar-e-Lengeh. Fishes were transferred to aquaculture department and stocked in three 6m3 CONCRETE TANKS at a density of 151nd/m3.They were fed with commercial shrimp pellet and crabs meat at a rate of 3-5 percent of their body weight. Growth of fishes was measured monthly. In order to distinguish the gonads development, 5-10 fishes were autopsied monthly from march to September. Results revealed that SIGANUS SUTOR could mature in cultvation tanks. Gonad somatic index showed that S. sutor can spawn in april and may.
