Abstract

Many researchers have attempted to create an integrated function to evaluate discharge coefficient of side wiers considering all effective parameters through experimental and analytical investigations. But since too many parameters affect this coefficient none of these researches resulted in a complete and extensive relation between discharge coefficient and all parameters. In this research with analyzing collected data from a true side wier constructed on a real trapezoidal channel analytical relations were obtained utilizing methods of energy and momentum separately. Then the results were compared with each other and also with results of Cheong investigation on trapezoidal channels. The result showed a good agreement with Cheoug and a 5.5percent difference between the two methods. Also it was concluded that although the main dimensionless parameter among all is Froud Number, the percent error in relation with all dimentionless parameters is much less than of relation between discharge coefficient and Froud Number only.
