Abstract

Correct evaluation of BEARING CAPACITY of deep foundation (piles) has a great importance in civil projects such as bridges, offshore structures and huge buildings. A major portion of stability of such structures is due to their foundations. On the other hand, the cost of construction of deep foundations some times includes more than half of the total cost. Hence, optimized design of piles, specially determination of their BEARING CAPACITY, should be done with special care. Inspite of the higher cost, for safety of structures against SETTLEMENT and other problems, they are often used. In this research, some types of PILE GROUP are analyzed and studied on an OPTIMIZATION of construction cost basis. In order to do this, a computer program is implemented by MATLAB software. GENETIC ALGORITHM is used for OPTIMIZATION.
