Abstract

Design and modeling of ELECTRICAL ARC FURNACES and their dynamic behaviour is presented in this paper. With this view, a powerful software package has been designed based on MATLAB SIMULINK, using Matlab toolboxes and S-Function blocks. This package is capable of easily modeling different electrical arrangements of arc furnaces and their related effects such as HARMONICS and FLICKER. Therefore, a three-phase furnace was designed as a simulink block and neural networks were used to estimate the histeresis model of the electric arc. Standard FLICKERmeter (UIE) and harmony meter Simulator have also been designed as an independent block in this package.
