The optimal deployment model for building residential complexes of villas in Rasht with a view to optimal utilization of solar and wind energy

Abstract

 One of the fundamental issues in the design of residential complexes is the understanding of correct deployment of units. Optimal utilization of wind and sun energy is one of the factors that must be considered in the deployment of residential buildings. In this paper, the optimal placement, including distance and orientation of buildings in residential complexes in Rasht will be discussed. Three placement methods of the buildings, including the east-west, checkered and with 10 degrees rotation deployment using Design Builder simulation software are compared in terms of heating and cooling loads. In the next step, optimal deployment model in residential buildings in the city of Rasht is extracted based on analyses of the results and information obtained from simulations. The simulation results show that checkered placement of buildings outside the area of wind shadow has the best results in terms of ventilation. In addition, due to increased distance between building rows, the amount of radiation received in whole units increases.
