Title

DETERMINATION OF REFERENCE VALUES OF SOME SERUM BIOCHEMICAL PARAMETERS IN RAENI KORKEE GOAT

Pages

  54-60

Abstract

Raeni Korkee GOAT is one of the most important varieties of Kashmer GOATs in Iran, which is so valuable and is in great demand in world wide market for the reason of high quality of Kashmer. Because of wide range of BIOCHEMICAL values in GOATs, this study was conducted to determine some of SERUM BIOCHEMICAL parameters including the activity of ALT, AST and ALP and the level of Na+ and K+ in the healthy RAENI KORKEE GOAT, which is useful for para clinical evaluation. In the present study, blood samples of 162 GOATs from both of SEX and various AGEs (less than 1 year, 1-2, 2-3 and more than 3 years of old) that were kept at the center of RAENI KORKEE GOAT breeding located in Baft city were collected. Total levels of ALT, AST, ALP and Na+ and K+ were 25.1 ± 2.9, 92.9 ± 3.2, 228 ± 43.7 IU/L and 148 ± 6.1 and 5 ± 0.3 mEq/L, respectively. There was no significant difference for ALT and AST activities and Na+ level between male and female GOATs (P> 0.05), while ALP activity (in AGE groups less than 1 year and older than 3 years) and K+ level were significantly different between male and female (P< 0.05). In different AGE groups, ALT and AST activities were not significantly different but ALP activity and Na+ and K+ levels were significantly different between GOATs of different AGEs (P< 0.05). ALP enzyme activity rate decreases in parallel to AGE increasing (P< 0.05). In AGE group older than 3 years Na+ value was significantly more than the other AGE groups and in AGE group between 1-2 years K+ value was less than the other AGE groups (P< 0.05). Most of these results are in agreement with other references.
