Abstract:

Objective: Many studies and researches have been done regarding elderly care health in countries with approved geriatrics as an independent branch. Because geriatrics is a new subject in Iran, this study was done in order to assess about social conditions and prevalence of elderly complaints and their rehabilitation services.Method & Materials: This is a descriptive study. 150 elderly who were admitted ambulatory in the educational, research and rehabilitation center for older people in 1999, were assessed, and required information were taken. Results: 150 elderly patients assessed, 58% female, 42% male, minimum age: 55 years. Maximum age: 100 years, 17.3% were illiterate, 19.3% had college studies. In female group 13% were widows and in male group 1.2% was widowers. 2 women and 1 man had never married. Cardio pulmonary disorders were the most common complaints (63.3%), then musculoskeletal disorders (55.6%), psychological disturbances, (24.6%), neurological disorders (18%), 35% of above cases received physiotherapy, 13% occupational therapy and 2% speech therapy. Conclusion: It seems that in our community, rehabilitation services are given less than the countries with approved geriatrics medicine. Perhaps the role of rehabilitation in the quality of elderly life, for both, patients and their physicians is ignored. It is suggested that, rehabilitation disciplinary must be introduced more than before to physicians, especially who are working in the field of geriatrics.

Abstract:

Background & Aim: The number of complaints filed by patients at the Iranian Medical Council is rising in recent years. Some of the complaints are related to orthodontics malpractice cases. The aim of this study was to investigate the frequency of orthodontics malpractice complaints filed against either specialists or general dental practitioners according to the final decree registered at the Iranian Medical Council. Materials & Methods: This descriptive study was designed to examine the relevant documents filed since 1372 (1994), which received rulings by the Iranian Medical Council. Results: Of the 54 orthodontics cases, 31 were filed against general practitioners, 16 against orthodontists, 3 against pediatricians and 4 against so-called denturists. A total of 25 cases were acquitted of all charges, 3 cases were punished verbally, 33 cases received written notice and 4 cases of denturists were referred to court. Among all, 27 malpractice cases were against removable and 26 involving fixed orthodontic treatments. Twelve convicted individuals were also charged with lack of professional care, 14 with lack of expertise, and 2 for negligence. Conclusion: This study shows a considerable rise in convicted malpractice cases filed against general dental practitioners (88%), according to registered cases at the Iranian Medical Council over the past ten years. For prevention and control of such events, this result suggests that more education and closer supervision as well as enforcement of regulations are required by authorities.

Abstract:

Literary works, especially the poetry of poets, are a reflection of the social and cultural conditions of their time; since artists have keen insights and insightful thoughts, they explore the situation of society more carefully and highlight its irregularities in their work. In Persian literature, the expression of these shortcomings, disorders and dissatisfaction has been called "complaint". This type of poetry has a significant place, especially in Persian literature. Emad Faqih Kermani is one of the prominent poets of the eighth century AH who has unique beautiful poems in the form of ode and lyric. Examining "complaint" as a theme in his works can play a significant role in recognizing the social situation of this period. This research has been done by descriptive-analytical method and relying on library data. The findings of the research indicate that in the poetry of Emad Faqih Kermani, the poet has artistically raised these complaints and criticized the situation of the society of his time. Reflecting on the complaints of Emad al-Faqih, it can be seen that the political situation prevailing in the poet's era has been the basis of his greatest dissatisfaction. This displeasure is reflected in themes such as the humiliation of dervishes and the needy, the feeling of worthlessness, the humiliation of grace and art, the criticism of the structure and political agents.

Abstract:

Objective: Sensor neural hearing impairments (SNHI) are not curable, and in the optimal situation, the most appropriate method is using hearing aids and aural habilitation. The main purpose of this paper is to investigate the ear symptoms and hearing aid’s complains and also to study the correlation between these two variables. We would like to encourage the therapists to pay more attention to the medical care follow-up and outcomes of aural habilitation.Materials & Methods: This is a descriptive analytic study. It was executed by a cross-sectional method on 95 SNHL children. Each case was examined by otolaryngologist and middle ears were assessed by Impedance Audiometry. Data were analyzed by Chi- square. Results: 38% of children who complained from their hearing aids had external otitis media. K Square showed a significant correlation (P=0.002) between external otitis and children’s complains about hearing aids.33% of children who complained from their ears, had abnormal tympanogram. Again K Square showed a significant correlation (P=0.005) between ear symptoms and abnormal tympanogram. Conclusion: External and middle ear infections in SNHL are as common as other normal hearing children. It can also be suggested as one of the important reasons in hearing aids dissatisfaction. So, regular otologic examination and audiometric evaluation in SNHL children are seriously recommended.

Abstract:

ONE OF THE TOTAL PURPOSES OF EVERY SCIENCE IS TO MEASURE SPECIFIC PHENOMENON AND GIVE IT THE QUALITY FEATURE. THE MAIN PURPOSES OF THIS STUDY IS TO INVESTIGATE THE COMPARISON BETWEEN THE DEPRESSION DISORDERS AND ANXIETY BY RORSCHACH AND BECK TESTS ON DEPRESSED SUBJECT CLIENTS TO ACHIEVE THIS PURPOSE, 30 SUBJECTS WITH THE RECOGNITION OF HAVING DEPRESSION AND 30 SUBJECTS WITH THE RECOGNITION OF HAVING ANXIETY WERE RANDOMLY SELECTED, AND RORSCHACH AND BECK TESTS WERE PERFORMED. THEREFORE, THE MEASURED DATA WAS ANALYZED WITH STATISTICAL METHODS WITH THE PURPOSE OF STUDYING THE EFFECT OF RORSCHACH AND BECK TESTS ON RECOGNITION OF DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY DISORDERS. TO DO THIS PURPOSE, KAY TEST WAS USED. ACCORDING TO THE OBTAINED RESULTS, IT SHOWS THAT THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RORSCHACH AND BECK TESTS IN THE RECOGNITION OF DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY. IN OTHER WORDS, THE RESULTS OF THE FINDINGS SHOW THAT RORSCHACH TESTS IN RECOGNITION OF DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY SIGNIFICANTLY OUTPERFORM BECK TESTS. THE FACTORS SUCH AS: AGE, GENDER, AND EDUCATION WERE STUDIED FOR THE RECOGNITION OF THESE TWO TESTS. THE RESULTS SHOW THAT THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE FEATURE OF LEVEL OF EDUCATION. IN OTHER WORDS, THE RECOGNITION OF BECK TESTS IN PEOPLE ANXIETY DISORDER WITH LOWER EDUCATION IS MORE THAN RORSCHACH TESTS AND RECOGNITION OF RORSCHACH TESTS IN PEOPLE ANXIETY DISORDER WITH HIGHER EDUCATION IS MORE. RORSCHACH TESTS HAD SIGNIFICANT RESULTS IN SUBJECTS' AGE FEATURES IN RECOGNITION OF ANXIETY DISORDER. IN OTHER WORDS, BOTH RORSCHACH AND BECK TESTS HAVE HIGH ABILITY IN RECOGNITION OF ANXIETY DISORDER IN OLD PEOPLE. BUT THERE WASN’T' T ANY SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THESE TWO TESTS.
